Kitchen remodel-Double Oven yes or no and why?

I'm picking out appliances and I originally wanted a double oven...but several people are trying to talk me out of it saying I'll hardly use the second oven.

A combo oven/convection microwave oven is not an option since the brand I want doesn't make it and I don't like any others.

Help!

Kitchen remodel-Double Oven yes or no and why?

Only you know what is right for you.
Everyone tries to tell me that I will definitely need a microwave and should purchase one. I have not had a microwave for 10+ years and have done just fine without it. So I will not be including one in my kitchen design.
I definitely will be doing a double oven. I have 2 kitchens on 2 floors and use both my ovens often. So a double for me is a must. I entertain frequently.

I'm in the process of a kitchen remodel - and every salesperson tried to steer me toward the oven/micro-convection option. I opted for a double oven and separate microwave....if only for the holidays - though I know I'll get use out of both oven simultaneously.

You have to go with your gut...

I have a double wall oven in my kitchen (we bought it like this). When I remodel -- someday! -- I plan to keep that feature.

I actually use it a lot, because I frequently entertain and host holidays where I need a lot of oven space. It makes timing easier.

Also, I cook a lot just for us, and I find it useful even just for weeknight dinners. I can cook things at different temperatures, and if I have something big in the top oven, I always just use the other oven for side dishes, etc,. rather than trying to stuff it all in.

get the double oven! great for parties & entertaining.

i hosted thanksgiving last year and it made it so easy to have the turkey in one oven and do everything else in the other - especially since most things need diff temps.

good luck!

I would say yes if you entertain a lot...

We don't have one...and I don't cook much...but we like to host parties. Everytime we have people over I always wish I had a double oven... if we ever remodel, it would be a MUST HAVE!

I host MANY holidays and I have no idea what I would do without the double oven.

If you don't entertain or host much, then I would probably advise on just getting a single.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I don't have a huge family and I don't entertain or host a lot. If I have a big party I half cook/half cater. I don't have Thanksgiving (yet), I only have Christmas, but I cook my meal on the stove top for that holiday. I feel myself leaning towards the single oven because I can count on one hand the times I've wanted a double oven.

I don't entertain a lot and i don't cook a lot but i would love to have a double oven.

I just love the way they look. A double oven will also bring the value of the house up a bit if you ever decide to sell.

That said, it all depends on your budget.

If I had room for it I absolutely would've gotten a double oven. So many times I wish I had one!

I'm doing my kitchen too and people keep telling me I don't need it but only u will know. For me I bake like crazy during the holiday especially cookies. Like insane amounts. Like quadruple recipes of 7 different cookies. I also have a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 boys. That I know will be eating a lot. I want to expand our family soon so I know for me just cooking dinner will require a lot of oven. I also like to cook in bulk and freeze.
