Kitchen sets and cottages
I really want to get my DD a kitchen set, but my mom thinks she's too young. What age is it appropriate?
My DD will be 1 on 12/1 but won't have another opportunity for gifts until she's 2 since she's so close to xmas - KWIM?

Do what I'm planning on doing. Buy what you want her to have and then keep it in storage until spring/summer. She won't miss it, and then she'll get something new. I always take my time opening new toys for DS. I wait until he's bored with what he's got, and then I give him something new.

I second this!
Also, I have to say, I think she will really like the kitchen. Steven has the small FP Learning kitchen and he loves it, so I know that if I got him the big one he would definately play with it.

I don't think it's too young she will just play w/ it in different ways as she grows.

I think it is a good toy for her. I am getting it my girls. I do think it is a toy that they will grow into.

Re: Kitchen sets and cottages
I just got one for my DD for Christmas. She'll be 14 months at Christmas but I don't think that 1 year is too young. I only got her a small starter kitchen though. Check out Jcpenny on-line. I bought the kitchen that's $34.99 and looks awesome (ours is still in the box).

DD is 17 mths and has had the opportunity to play with kitchen sets a few times at friends houses...she isnt the least bit interested yet - I think we may get her one for her 2nd bday.

Re: Kitchen sets and cottages
Ava was playing with my friend's baby's kitchen set today and she LOVED it - she's def not too young. I mean she didn't know what she was really doing but had fun opening and stocking the fridge etc. I say buy it! My friend bought one for Ava for her upcoming bday.
