Re: kitten and christmas tree..

there really isnt anything you can do to keep them away. We secure the tree to the wall, because 2 years ago my cat climbed the tree and knocked it over...Chat Icon and I also keep only soft ornments on the bottom so if he plays with them, nothing will break.

Althought, I have to say, he has not played with any ornaments this year...he just likes to sleep underneath it...guess my baby is growing up!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

You can try a water spray - everytime he starts tapping the branches, just give him a little spritz, he'll soon stop. My two used to think the tree was a special game that Mummy did just for them, knocked it over a few times. I did the water spray (my vet told me to try it) and it worked pretty well. Chat Icon

You can try spraying bitter apple spray on the lower branches. Also, do it in phases, like put the tree out undecorated for a few days before you decorate it.

Re: kitten and christmas tree..

We have a kitten too and she thinks the tree is all for her. We sprayed her with water when she went near it, put bitter spray on it and even tried crumpled tin foil under the tree....none of which bothered her.

She got used to it though and now just plays with it a little, I think she's getting bored of it. We had the tree bare for a few days and then only decorated it with lights, ribbon and a few ornaments. We also didn't put any ornaments on the lower branches.

She's getting better with it.
