knitting needles question

My mom knits (mostly baby blankets, baby sweaters etc). I saw a beautiful pair of rose wood knitting needles yesterday and would love to get them for her birthday next week. I'm not sure what size to get for the type of things she makes. I'm guessing a 6 or 6 1/2?

a lot of knitters find a favorite size they work with.

i would suggest that you sneak a peak into her stash.

my favorite size to knit baby stuff is about a size 5 or 6.

I called my aunt and had her go take a look at the size needles mom uses. Most of her patterns call for a 10 1/2!

Since they're made from wood, do you think they'll warp after a while?

It depends on the yarn. I love wood needles and cant use anything else, although I prefer bamboo. I have a selection of wood needles and buy them as I need them depending on the pattern and the yarn and my gauge.

For my baby blanket, I am using 10 and 11. Most of the baby blanket patterns call for 10 or 10 1/2. It also depends on your own knitting. I knit tight so I need 1/2 to 1 size bigger than the patterns call for.
