Knot on head and temper tantrums, sorry kind of long

I have a silly question. My DS is 19 months old. 2 weekends ago he got smacked pretty hard in the head by his cousin with a plastic whiffle ball bat. He had a good knot and bruise. Now for the past week or so he's had a bit more of a temper and a couple awful tantrums. Could this be related? Or do you think it's just timing of the onset of the terrible twos? Wouldn't he have had symptoms if he had a major head injury? My DH just brought this up to me and after I reassured him that that couldn't be the problem, I'm questioning it myself........ Chat Icon

Oh, I forgot to mention he got his 18 month shots this past Friday and has had no appetite at all for dinner, but eats breakfast and lunch just fine..... I don't get it.. Phase? Shots??? Head injury??? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anybody have any advice? I'm getting very paranoid now thinking about this... I can't believe my DH put this in my head.

It sounds like he had alot going on all at once. I would give the doc a call and run this all by him/her. I'm sure his head is okay...maybe he is just out of sorts. DD isn't herself lately either while teething, getting shots, etc. Chat Icon

That's the other thing. Although we really can't feel anything he seems to be cutting his two year molars now too... I just hope my baby boy wasn't injured and I missed it. But I would THINK a bad head injury would be hard to miss, right? I mean he seemed fine afterwards, no signs of any concussion or anything else that day. Just lately..... his temper....

I am no expert, but I think that is kind of an old wives tale that b/c he had a head injury that he would have some type of "personality change".

If you feel like you should, call the ped, but I agree with the OP that he seems to have a lot going on.Chat Icon Chat Icon
