Know what I hate about Dr. Phil???
Everytime he ends his show, he walks off, hand in hand, with his wife who sits in the audience every friggin day for his show, like he's saying - see? I know about relationships - look at me with my wife! 
what if she has plans that day? Does she have to put them on hold so she can sit her butt there for an hour while he yammers on????

well, they do tape something like 3 shows a day. Maybe 2. I bet they don't tape everyday.
I agree though, it seems odd.
I guess they have to tape around her schedule as well!

Same here- I think he as a "therapist" he should be ashamed of himself. Exploiting poor peoples problems on television. He is an A$$!

I was actually just thinking about this a couple of days ago (although I rarely watch the show). It irks me too.
Also, does anybody else notice he double talks a lot? I can't seem to understand his advice (if he has any) cause I can never understand him. I am usually mentally drained so I switch the channel.
I don't watch that often so maybe I am wrong?

no - you know what he does? He doesn't EVER give advice - he hardly ever gives a full sentence without ending it with - We are going to cut to a break, and then I'll tell you how I feel about....
Then, he will offer them his book, and say he'll get them a counselor, and threaten them if they don't go...
Or he'll crack jokes about the situation...
He sucks
I certainly will not be missing him when I go back to work on Monday!

That is what it is. He never seems to have any constructive advice. I find him so unappealing.

If he gives advice, he might wind up being wrong. If he double-talks, he can't be wrong....
I always thought it was weird, too that his wife has no life of her own. She HAS to be in the studio with him for every show. I don't think DW would be still married to me if I forced her to sit in my office and watch me work every day!

I guess I am the oddball, I love him and I find him to be very insightful. I see many of your points but I watch him pretty much every day except for shows I have no interest in. Even my DH likes to watch. We have learned a lot from him and I think he is hilarious actually. I guess he's a love him or hate him kinda guy.
Just curious, those who hate him, how often have you watched his show?
P.S. I DO hate how he walks off with Robin every day.

I really love Dr. Phil too. I have been watching him since he was on Oprah. And I think it is great that Robin is at every show and supports him. You have never seen another show where the spouse or significant other sits in the audience and supports them. I agree I think you either love him or hate him. I don't agree with everything he says but I have learned a lot from watching his shows.

I think he's a tool.. but I think holding hands with your spouse is super romantic and shows her support of her spouse. I think more couples should do it.

Ditto. I like him too. He does have too many proverbs and figurative blurbs and tries to crack himself up a bit too much
Did anyone know Robin was his 2nd wife? I caught a bit of a documentary a couple of years ago, saying he was very was it verbally abusive? cant remember what, but he was no angel to her.
and he does try to act like his marriage now is romeo and juliet.

I watched him everyday on maternity leave! I have to admit I was drawn to the show... there were some thing he said I really liked a lot. I feel he didnt always focus enough with people because he crammed too much in an hr show - but he did seem to honestly care... I guess he has so many sponsors he does keep having to go to break, but I felt it interefred too much - but the thing with his wife annoys me...

I read an interview with him where he basically said his job was to earn the money & her job was to keep the house/decorate.
I guess they can afford a maid now, so she has nothing better to do.
ETA- Nothing against SAHM/SAHW, or supporting your spouse, but it was the way he came across in the interview on that point. He seemed very controlling.
