Kramer Apology: Too Little Too Late?
Three days after he screamed racial slurs at black audience members at the Laugh Factory comedy club, Seinfeld star, Michael Richards was finally ready to say he was sorry -- at Jerry Seinfeld's request. Seinfeld invited Richard's to join him via satellite on the The David Letterman Show last night, where he attempted to explain away his racist outburst last Friday night.
Richards admitted he became upset and "took it badly" after several African American men in the audience began heckling him. He also said he was "concerned about the hate and rage" his comments had caused.
Richards went on to say he was sorry for his actions, and that he going to do some "personal work" without specifing what exactly that might entail.
Laugh Factory owner, Jamie Masada, has since banned Richards from performing at any of his comedy clubs. After Masada refunded everyone's money on Friday night, he invitied Richards back to perform Saturday night to issue an apology, but Richards never acknowledged the incident while on stage.
"As a human being I feel terrible. They [the audience] came there to be entertained, not insulted." Masada tells Us. "You have to stand for something. He has to do the right thing or he will not be allowed back. He has to apologize, make amends, speak to everybody and make it work out."
