LA Fitness in Lake Grove
I'm thinking about joining to switch up my exercise routine for the winter months.
Does anyone take classes here? I've found out the classes are included in the price and that's really what I want. The Zumba class on Monday nights.
I've heard it can get busy so how do you make sure you get a spot in the class, a signup sheet? I could get there by 5 so that's not a big deal.
Lastly, how hard to they try to sell you on things like personal training and juicing and stuff? I hate the hard sell. I just want to pay my money, use the place, and leave.

Re: LA Fitness in Lake Grove
I was a member there for about 2 years and I really liked it. I never had trouble getting into a class - I did spinning and kickboxing once in a while. There are certain times that are more popular for classes - weekends, usually - and they had sign up sheets for them. They do try to get you to do the personal training...and I signed up for it for a year because I was such a mess and needed guidance....and I loved the trainer I had at first, but then he cut his hours because he was going to college (he was sooo young!) and I had to switch and I hated the second guy so I didn't renew the training. But my husband was offered the training and he turned it down....they're not that crazy with it. The only reason I stopped going was because the classes never worked with my schedule and I found I was only using the treadmill really....so I bought a treadmill and cancelled my gym membership. Good luck!

Oh that sucks! I'm not starting at the beginning so the only things I think I'd get out of it is how to use the machines and maybe the best exercises to target certain muscle groups. A quick trip to Bodybuilders.com can remedy that too. So the guy I met with seemed nice and not pushy but I don't see myself doing this long term.

It did suck!! The first guy was so great....and then the second guy had this addiction for calling attention to his crotch.....and was pretty unprofessional overall. He was really dumb too, which bothered me a lot. Good luck!!

I'm picturing Ben Stiller in Dodgeball with his crotch pump
I went last night and realized that all the machines have instructions on them and are pretty easy to figure out. I'm going to text the trainer and cancel my friday appointment. I feel a little bad but he'll figure out sooner or later that I'm not a quitter and can self-discipline.
