Labor - Is anyone going to try and do it without pain meds? More...
More power to you!!! I really admire those who try and those that actually go through labor and delivery without drugs. What types of pain management techniques will you be using? Is anyone giving birth at birthing center or at home instead of at the hospital?
I myself would like the epidural drip to start now.

I am PETRIFIED of the epidural...I know too many people who've had residual effects from it. So, I am hoping to go drug free. I am taking Bradley classes which help to prepare you for a natural birth. Most people who do Bradley also give birth at home, but I prefer a hospital. I would just feel safer knowing we were there if something went wrong.

I had Emma without drugs, before the C-Section, its totally doable! Just remember to breathe and the pain will be over before you know it! BE STRONG!

No way, this is the 3rd time and I LOVE that epidural. I have never heard of anyone with any "serious" side effects, just minor ones, like back tenderness, cramping, etc. For the amount of women that have complications there are a million who don't!!!

I had my daughter w/o drugs but trust me, I was begging for the epi LOL. I was fully dilated and effaced and the baby's head was almost out so I had no choice at that point. I went super fast - I went from 3 to 10 cm in less than 2 hours.
Can you do it without drugs - yes, its definitely doable. I think for each person its different b/c each person has a different threshold for pain.

I have no plans for doing it without drugs.
I have a very low threshold for pain.

Not PG now..but I did deliver my first without anything and Since I know I CAN do it, I will hope to again in the future. Although I too was screaming for it when it was too late...I know that the very hardest part is the shortest and I will try again , only because I want to be alert, no residual affects etc right afterwards.
Im afraid of an epidural!

I went into labor saying "I'll see how it goes". I was fine without the epidural until they broke my water to put an internal monitor on the baby. Within 30 min, I was begging for the epi bc the contractions were 10x worse and more frequent. I was so glad I got it bc I was able to finally rest before pushing for an hour.
