Labor after told you're 'closed'

I'm 37wks 6days and was told today I am a fingertip dilated (may be 1cm but not quite), not soft/effaced and my cervix is long.

Has this happened to anyone but you still went into labor within hours/days?

I know I still have at least 2 wks and baby will come when he's ready but just looking for 'happened to me and I went right away or later than due date.'

DS#1 was born at 39wks 1 day and at this point I was already 2cm/70%effaced.
DS#2 was born at 37wks 3days.
Every pregnancy is different but to not even have any change especially with all the contractions I'm having is scaring me.

Any 'I've been there' stories would be helpful. TIA

Yeah this happ to me. I went for a dr visit on a thurs morning at 40wks 6 days. No progress at all. Water broke the next morning at 6 am, and gave birth that night.

I started to lose my mucus plug the same day I had my final appt with my ob... I said, look something is going on... He assured me he'd see me in another week bc I wasn't dilated and my cervix was high. I said yeah ok., well see... That night I started having early labor and 2 days later I was admitted into the hospital and had my dd... Trust your gut... Its prob more on point than your doctor... At least it was for me

With both DD1 & DD2 I was closed until the day I gave birth. Never lost mucus plug or had water break. Doctors all said I was closed with long cervix at every appt. I went a week early with both. With #2 I was having contractions a lot, just not timeable at all until the day I went into labor. With #1 I went from closed to 6cm within a few hrs. With #2 I started having contractions consistently every 10 mins at 6am and went to hospital and was 6cm at 8am and had her by noon (would have been sooner but epidural stopped contractions.)

I was less than one cm and went into labor on my own two days later...although I was 13 days late by then!

That happened to me....saw my dr Thursday and told no progress. I went into labor the next day

Thank you ladies. This is so reassuring. I was so discouraged today when he said there's nothing. More because at 34wks I got a pill to stop contractions but I've still been getting them everyday and now they're stronger.

I was not dilated or effaced on Monday morning, went into active labor at 1:00am that night. However, I was also 3 days past my due date.

Yes I was closed tight in tues and my water broke on Sunday. I had a 24 hour labor though

Yep wasnt dilated or effaced at all. One day later my water broke .

Happened to me!

DS#1 I went to the Dr on Thursday and he said "I will see you next week", no signs of any labor/dilating.

I went into and delivered baby that Sunday

I was 40 weeks I think with DD#1 and went to my OB on a Monday. Nothing was happening and later that night into Tuesday early labor started.

Yes, me too. I was checked at the ob and had a sono on a Tuesday, and nothing was going on. I was only 37 weeks too. Well, my water broke Wednesday at 5 PM. The sono tech even visited me at the hospital after I had the baby and said she could not believe it!

Thursday at 37w1d was my first internal and I was fully closed. Nothing going on at all. Sunday I had cramps and was uncomfortable. Monday more so and at night started cramping and I could time them, but they were all over the place. Googled and figured false labor. By morning I was in a bit of pain and went to hospital to check it out. Was 1-2cm and 90p effaced. Dr was going to send me home. However he told me to walk around for 40m. At the end of that walk I was 4cm and 100p effaced and gave birth later that day at 37w6d!
