Labor Day getaway
We are thinking of a last minute weekend getaway, but the following aren't going to be allowed
golf sailing kayaking boozing water activities
I thought of a quick trip to Niagara Falls, but I'm a bit reluctant to fly and I refuse to drive
Any suggestions?
I know this is kind of the wrong board, but I figure some of you might have had a similar dilema

Re: Labor Day getaway
Maybe Lancaster, Pa?
We find it very relaxing. Shopping, crafts, EATING ...and we love to drive around and look at the covered bridges.

Re: Labor Day getaway
I was thinking the same thing.
My tentative idea was just to get a nice hotel room in the city and walk central park, maybe go to the met, etc.
Nice and easy, close by and we can stay at a nicer place then we would if we had to pay to travel there.
To me, a getaway is any place where I don't have to vacuum, dust or do laundry!

Looks like its only 3 1/2 hour drive
Can either of you recommend a B&B?

Re: Labor Day getaway
There was recently a thread on Lancaster
Link
We stayed at the Best Western Eden Resort twice, but wouldn't stay there again. Dh wants to try the Country Inn Suites next time (across from Dutch Wonderland).

Re: Labor Day getaway
We're doing the same this weekend but we are visiting my SIL in Acton, MA.
I just needed to get off of LI and I haven't since last July.
How about New Paltz? There is a B&B my DH and I stayed in called Stonegate, it's actually a few miles outside of New Paltz. I think it was a 2 hour drive.

Re: Labor Day getaway
I liked Lancaster better than New Hope. We just got back, stayed at Bird In Hand Family Inn, it was very nice, but not a B&B. I wish I could remember some of the nice ones I saw. If you post a few I migth remember.

Re: Labor Day getaway
Ohhh we stayed here:
Green Acres - Mt. Joy
Amazing food, great place....and so much to do. But no need to drink or swim or golf, lol.
I also want to go here:
Mohonk
And Boston is a great getway, as are Burlington or Stowe, VT.

Re: Labor Day getaway
thanks everyone for the great suggestions, but we decided to stay home. I'd rather go away when I can do things there
But, we got 8th or 10th (row H) row orchestra seats for Sapamalot matinee on Saturday. We're going to a favourite restaurant afterwards for dinner. So it will be a bit of a getaway
btw the restaurant is Les Sans Coulouttes
