Labor Hormone Test?
I forget what its called...but they can check these hormones and if it tests positive you may deliver within 2 weeks BUT if you test negative it means you're good to go and wont deliver for another 2 weeks.. Its kind of like there can be false positives but not false negatives.
Anyone have these done? Is it a vaginal swab thing?...a blood test?..

Re: Labor Hormone Test?
It is called an FFN - I had one around 29 weeks when I was having contractions and it was negative. It is just a swab that they take like a pap smear.
I don't think they do it when you are further along only when you are early and they are afraid of premature labor.

Re: Labor Hormone Test?
FFN's ....Yep had them every 2 weeks for most of my pregnancy.
they stop doing them around 34 weeks b/c the baby produces protein on its own at that stage and the FFN is no longer a valid indicator...
It shows if protein is being excreted by the baby which happens when labor is eminent.

Re: Labor Hormone Test?
Thanks..yes thats it.
I'll be 27 weeks at my next appointment and depending upon my cervix we will be starting them...My last cervical sonogram showed no shortening BUT I way over did it since then..(the kids had field day at their school) and I had some mucus discharge the following day. I think their may have been some effacement.
I just wanted to know what to expect.
