labor question
Does labor ever just come out of nowhere? or are there always signs?
I'm still not feeling anything, no cramping, haven't lost my mucus plug, etc...could contractions just start at any time?
Just curious. I always walk around like I have plenty of time because I have no signs yet.

Re: labor question
Mine came out of nowhere. I lost my mucous plug I think over a week before I actually went into labor. I never had painful Braxton Hicks, no period like cramping or anything. I also had a great day and went shopping with my sister and got my eyebrows waxed. Then the pain came and I had back labor. I started getting painful contractions at 7pm and then they were consistant throughout the night. They got stronger and were as painful as when I was 3-4 centimeters when I arrived at the hospital as when I was about to deliver.I know that for next time because I only had the epidurlal in for about an hour and they never checked me towards the end. I could have went medication free!

Re: labor question
with my 1st I knew I just wasn't feeling right for a couple days and I was in the bathroom ALOT with my 2nd I felt find and then all of the sudden started having contractions in the middle of the night... I thought it was just cramps because I ate something bad, but I quickly realized that it was labor

Re: labor question
They said there are signs....
1) You either get diarrhea(if you were not constipated) or for those that suffer from constipation during the pregnancy....a sudden relief.....your body is cleansing out(sorry if too much TMI). 2) You feel a sudden burst of energy....like you clean your whole house and can do even more.... 3) lightening from below your rib cage 4) more frequent Braxton Hicks contractions. 5) You pass your Mucous Plug

Re: labor question
I lost my mucus plug eight days before. I had no signs after that. A few hours before my water broke I had a few tightening feelings in my upper abdomen.

Re: labor question
Mine came out of nowhere... the only sign of change I saw was that I craved coffee after having been repulsed by it my whole pregnancy

Mine was a combination of both of her kids - I felt fine the day before.

Re: labor question
Yup! Not sure if you remember my story - but I was in the hospital 5 cm and didn't know it - not until I got an internal. No water breaking, no extra cramps, no contractions, etc.
I guess you could say I "nested" on Wed (gave birth Fri) but I had a feeling it was going to be soon so I wanted my house ready!

Re: labor question
I just started having regular contractions the day before my due date. They weren't painful for the first 9 hours, just regular. I went to the hospital once they were painful and 5 min apart and was 2 cm when I arrived. No other signs. Doctor broke my water.

Re: labor question
It can come out of nowhere. Remember my story about the day I went into labor the first time and how in hindsight, I should've known [random crazy diarrhea issue and cleaning my kitchen for 2 hours]?
For the most part, no real signs...just suddenly I had this strange pain from the baby moving [later explained as the head moving into the birth canal] and then WHAM. this awful pain. 5 minutes later, another....4 hours later i was a mommy.
