labor question please?

I am 37 1/2 weeks and seeing the docs twice a week due to GD, swelling and because its hard for me to feel baby movement due to anterior placenta etc... I was told i am a fingertip dilated... i know i'm looking for hope here because i am SO uncomfortable at this point. i can barely walk/stand for more than 15-20 mins without needing to sit and my hands/fingers are numb and tingly 99% of the time, can't sleep well etc...

It seems l lost my mucous plug Wed. - how quick did everyone progress after being a fingertip dilated. Is a fingertip dilated the same as 1 cm? Doc said the baby is still at -3 . Thank you!

I was a fingertip dialated from my first internal. I went 5 days late. I lost my mucous pug about a week before I delivered.

I made no progress with gianna until my 39w3d appt, i was a fingertip dilated, i had her the next day. i didn't lose my plug until i was in full lanor at the hospital

Sorry sweetie, I think a fingertip is less than 1cm. Good luck though, it could all start full force in an instant for you!

I was 1cm dilated for a couple of weeks, and I gave birth about 2 days after loosing my mucus plug.

Yeah a fingertip is like being 1/2cm. Doesn't mean anything anyway. I was completely closed until the day I went into labor then in a matter of a few hours I was 3.5cm. I had lost my mucous plug about 3 days before that.

I was a fingertip dialated for 2 weeks, the day before I went into labor, same thing only a fingertip dialated. Contractions started at 2am and I had him at 559pm.

ETA: He came 5 days early, 39 weeks 2 days.

I lost my mucous plug and DS was born a week later.
I had an OB appointment the night I lost my plug. I was not dialated at all.

ETA: I went at 38 Weeks.

Both pregnancies about 5-7 days after losing mucous plug - I went into labor - both in my 37th week.

First pregnancy - my water broke and I was only a fingertip dilated. I had strep b - so I went right to the hospital and was put on pitocin - 12 hrs later baby was born. Second time I was 2cm at like 34 weeks and 3 the day I went into labor on my own at the end of my 37th week and my water didn't break until I was 9cm.

I was 2 cm dialated for over a week, so you can go anytime or even late.

Hang in there...its almost over and it is all worth it.

I only lost my mucus plug with my first and I went into labor right away. With one of my others I was a fingertip for about a week before officially going into labor. You never know though - the others I was high and thick and not dialated at all and went into labor. Everybody and every birth is different.

Sorry to tell you I was 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced at around 33 or 34 weeks but I can sympathize with you - I had excess fluid and contractions for weeks before I gave birth - the dr kept telling me I would never make it to my next appt. I lost my mucus plug slowly over the course of a few days a week or so before I gave birth. I gave birth at 38w 4days.

I actually think this is HUGE progress. Not necessarily the fingtip dialated but losing the mucous plug. My dd was born the next day after mine was gone. I cant see it going for more then a week if your mucous plug is gone.

I lost my mp 12 days before I gave birth and was 2 cm for 4 weeks
