Lack of sun protection in Chicco Keyfit30
I was surprised at the short canopy covering the Chico Keyfit 30. It barely covers the baby to protect him from the elements and sun.
Do they sell an adapter or canopy extension? What do you do if u have one?

For this time of year? The sun index is only like a 4 or 5 and thats on its best day. I wouldnt really worry about it. Some sun is good for them

I found this to be true, too!! My DS is very very sensitive with sun in his face. I flip the visor part out and pull it as far forward as it will go by detaching the back. The way I do it exposes the styrofoam in the back of the carseat, but it really helps keep the sun out.

I was gonna say this too. It took me a good month or 2 before I realized there was a visor so I wanted to make sure you knew it was there! It's a little flap folded under the top of the canopy.

This is GREAT! It folds up small and is huge when you tie it to the stroller. Too bad I'm not in NY, cause I don't use it anymore.

They recommend about 15 minutes of sun for babies a day (not direct sun like to burn them!), but if your DS is like mine, he hates the sun right in his eyes! We would put an aden & anais blanket over the top to cover him from the direct overhead sun in his face.

Yes! Be thankful you found this out now. Seriously, I think my DD was like 7 or 8 months when I learned

Re: Lack of sun protection in Chicco Keyfit30
You guys are cracking me up.
I always show that little flap when I have parents with Keyfits, they hid it well, eh?
I love that cover one Kimberly linked, seems like the easiest to use and can serve dual purpose as a privacy shade when out and about.
Why do all the cool things come out AFTER I have my kids???

Are you concerned about when in the car or in the snap n go? In the snap n go, I'd use an aiden + anais blanket or sometimes the bug net was enough of a filter to not be so bright. Plus I read that a bug net helped to prevent strangers from touching your baby! and it worked!

That's friggin' awesome!!!
I took DS for a walk earlier (not knowing the skies were about to open up! I don't think I've had time to watch or listen to a weather forecast since he was born!).
Half way through, it started raining! Thank GOD I knew about that flap because it was just enough to protect him from the rain!
Thanks for letting me know about it! I was so excited to use my brand new flap!
