You know what i learned from the show.....
Never call them autistic children, but rather children with autism. I never even though about it.....so I learned a little something.
I give Jenny and Holly a lot of credit. Yes they have the resouces and whatnot, but they also have allowed people to come into their homes to see what it is like to have a child with autism. They are celebrities and they are able to get people to focus on causes, so i applaud them for doing that.
Also, while she is a celebrity, remember she went through a divorce that she believes was caused by her child having autism. I was really listening when she (and Holly) were speaking about how men deal with it.
From my standpoint while you all might not agree with her statement about what causes it, she really opened my eyes to a lot of things that families with children wtih autism deal with.
Yes!!! ALWAYS children/individuals with autism - huge pet peeve of mine when people use the term "autistic"
Also, yes, autism unfortunately breaks up many marriages. It is very, very sad....

I've been very aware of the person-first nomenclature recently (thanks to LIF ), and am making strong efforts to make sure I use it, but what's interesting is that I actually prefer being called "diabetic" than a "person with diabetes"...
