Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

I love the new plan alot. I feel like its promoting healthier eating. However, I've been on it since the beggining of December and I'm not losing anything. I'll lose .2 then go back up .2, etc.

Even though I'm lifetime, I'm trying to lose a little extra (I basically chose a weight but decided its a little too high for what I want. Not changing it though because I like not paying!).

I only eat the 29 points (dont use the extra 6 maitenance points), I use my 49 weelkies, and I workout alot (6-7 days/week sometimes twice a day).

I track everything I eat. I'm getting in all my good health guidelines.

On the old plan I lost...but now on the new plan I'm stalled. Wondering if its me or the plan. I'm getting frustrated. I was down to 116 the day of my wedding and now I'm back up to 122. I just want to get back down under 120 again.

So those of you who were on the old for awhile and switched- any thoughts? ANyone else seeing similiar results?

I would switch up everything you are eatting....I think our bodies get used to processing things that we eat regularly, so anytime I feel like I've hit a plateau I try to change everything and "shock" my metabolism into a new rhythm...Also I know they say that the 49 extra points can be used and still have weight loss, but you are very thin like me and i find that if i use all 49 each week I don't see great weight loss results on the scale....with that said I don't think you should NOT use any of those extra points if you feel you need them...just maybe try to be pickier with using them...good luck!

Thanks. Its funny I usually reccomend that people "switch it up" too. Once I started on the new plan though I switched it up and started eating new things. I guess I'll try and find new foods again lol

I actually dont use ANY of my 49 points during the week. However, I usually have one "cheat meal"- I eat whatever I want for dinner the same night as when I get weighed (so its an entire week apart from my next weigh in) and just count that as my 49 points. When I was on the old plan I never used my weeklies either (I did the same thing and lost)

I do the same thing! lol I get weighed in on Saturday morning and then "enjoy myself" Saturday night and don't count lol I'm sure its not that one meal that is keeping you from being where you want so I wouldn't recommend cutting that out (cuz I know it would kill me to cut out that night for myself! lol)...so then I guess try switching it up and see what the scale says next week...

Is being under 120 pounds a healthy weight for your height? That sounds very skinny to me. I'm just asking because if it's not, that might be why sticking to the plan doesn't allow you to go below that. IDK, just a guess.

The minimum for my height is 117 so its still a healthy weight. Maybe I'm just obsessing too much over those last few pounds Chat Icon It gets to take over mind after awhile.

Please don't take this the wrong way but I thought you were extremely thin in your wedding pic. I think you might look nice with those extra 5-7 lbs. Chat Icon

No worries- I def. dont take it the wrong way. I think I just get obsessed with that number on the scale.

Maybe its more of the fact I love losing weight and it feels so rewarding...but I have to stop losing at some point.

I get obsessed with the number on the scale too. I made lifetime a few years ago and have gone up and down by a few pounds over the years. I've done what you do - I'm now within my 2 pounds for lifetime but that's still a few pounds more then where I want to be. My numbers are very close to yours too - at my best I was about 118. I'd be happy with 120. I'm at 126 now.

Re: Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

Colleen,

There is such a thing as losing too much. Think of it this way, would you rather have to starve and count every single point ALL the time to be at 117 or would you prefer to be 120 and have more flexibility?

For me, I prefer the latter. I lost too much when I first lost too, and that weight was completely unrealistic and unmaintainable for me. Once I came to accept that I still looked good a couple pounds heavier and had more flexibility with my food intake, I was set.

Re: Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

Colleen I agree with you on the new plan 100% regardless of what you want to weigh, lose, gain etc..... I also have been trying to lose 2 lbs yes on ly 2 lbs and I too eat the 29 pts and my extra points but I also work out a lot. I find myself gaining and then losing less. Like i said one of the women working at ww told me that this plan has not been mastered for lifetime members. What I am doing is still counting some of my fruit like bananas, pineapple, et.... SOrry a banana used to be 2pts now it's zero makes no sense to me! I personally am not a fan of new plan at all!

Re: Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

Laura- great advice, thank you. I'm half thinking maybe my body just isn't meant to be under 120lbs.

Rosemarie- I like that fruit is 0 but I worry that I will eat too much because of that! It does have calories and sugar. My biggest concern with the plan is how is a 120lb woman and a 180lb woman BOTH supposed to lose weight eating the same amount? Chat Icon It does make sense they haven't "ironed out the kinks" for the lifetimers. I did switch though because I want to keep up to date in meetings.

I agree with you about the fruits and veggies--I only count them as zero points until I've had my five. Any after that I start to count as one or two points (depending on the fruit/how much I've had). It keeps me honest. Chat Icon

I hope you don't mind me crashing here often but can I also add that I found it extremely hard to get below 120. My lowest weight ever was 115 and it took crazy working out (I mean 6-7 times a week and sometimes even twice a day) to get to that weight. My body would always level out around 120. I finally started to think that maybe this is my ideal "happy" weight. Your body just seems to know when enough is enough. I actually look back on pics of myself now and like how I look better when I'm over 120lbs. Anything less and I started to look too skinny and somewhat boney. I think I'm finally starting to realize that everyone has that happy weight that there body is comfortable around!!!!

Be proud of yourself for being so dedicated. I think you're doing great! Maybe 120 is just a weight that was meant for your body!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

I'm not having much success on the scale with the new plan...3+ weeks in and a loss of a pound. Since I'm 8 pounds from what my Lifetime weight is, I need to pay for meetings right now...so because the scale isn't budging AT ALL and I'm irritated that I'm paying $40 a month for them to keep telling me that nothing on the scale is changing, I'm skipping meetings for awhile. I know, I know...meeting attendance is important, but I also know myself, and I can be quite the self-destructive type if I am told the same thing, week after week, in a meeting I wake up two hours earlier to attend each Tuesday morning.

I have all of the materials. I know the plan, I've done the old plans and I am confident that I can do this on my own for awhile until a lower number shows up on the scale. I've done this before, and I'll do it again.

I'm trying to stay positive...I track EVERYTHING I eat, even down to counting a point for a taste of DH's ice cream last night, which wasn't even a spoonful. I'm eating healthier than I have in the past couple of months when WW went straight out the window for me. I'm exercising regularly again, and my clothes are fitting better.

I don't get why the scale hasn't moved at all. I'm doing everything right and I'm just going to continue to do so until I decide that cutting off half of one leg will mean that I'm back at my goal weight, or until a smaller number pops up on the scale...whichever comes first.

It makes me feel better, I guess, to know that others at Goal/Lifetime are feeling the same, but it's also discouraging if it's true that the plan isn't yet fine-tuned to the needs of those near or at Goal/Lifetime.

I am in the same situation. I just have a couple of pounds I would like to lose and I have been following the plan and have actually gained a pound over the past 2 weeks.

I don't think its right that we need to adjust the points target on our own - we are essentially paying for a product that doesn't work. If the plan hasn't been mastered for lifetime members then they shouldn't be promoting it at all. I know there is not as much money to be made from lifetimers so I am sure that was not their primary concern.

I do etools only, I doubt I will keep it up if I keep gaining. I skimmed the WW boards and seems many are having trouble with the new plan.

I think WW will have to revisit. Seems that those who have been watching what they eat for awhile are struggling and I don't think they can continue to have customers pay and see little results.

What I don't understand is why this plan isn't working for lifetimers in particular? Is it because our bodies are used to the other plan? Do we have so little to even lose that it just won't work? Others seem to be successful- why not lifetimers?

I personally do not like the new plan; I don't agree with calories not counting at all, and I don't understand how you can eat as much fruit as you like. If I were to go back on it, I'd follow the old plan since it worked for me.

I do agree that you look great! I too got to a weight that I loved, but as Laura pointed out, I found it difficult to maintain. Now, I am up about 3 lbs from that. Like you, I look at scale and wonder why I can't lose and see that number again. I think a lot of it is that sometimes if the weight is too low for your body, it will be nearly impossible to maintain. And I don't want to count points the rest of my life.

I think that it is because 29 points plus free fruit is more calories than 18 points plus free vegetables. I think its too much food. Chat Icon

Re: Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

I am nowhere near goal weight and am having an awful time on the new program. I track EVERYTHING and have rarely used my weekly points. I have been going to the gym 5x per week and never use the 35+ activity points I accumulate every week. I really feel like it's too many points.

I always did WW in a very healthy way, never bought the WW products or anything with preservatives, artificial colors and flavors, ate a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit, etc. So for me, the only change this new program brought for me was about 10 extra points per day.

I am seriously considering going back to the old plan or just cutting my points back to what they were on the old plan.

Re: Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

A couple of things i'd like to point out:

1- for those of you who are lifetime and struggling with just a few pounds, remember when you were losing. I don't know about you, but my last 5 pounds was harder than the first 40. In fact, I'll tell you a story. Lost 46 pounds in 9 months (on flex). But I lost 45.5 pounds in 8 months. Do the math - it took me an entire month to lose 1/2 pound. So yes, when you have less to lose it comes off much slower.

2- who said PP hasn't been modified for lifetimers? Of course it has - just like the old plans, LTers on PP add extra points to their daily target to maintain. No different than flex or momentum.

3- PP DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO EAT AS MUCH FRUIT AS YOU WANT. Nor has WW ever said to eat as many veggies as you want. Its not about what you want, it's about what you NEED. The idea behind the zero PP fruits and veggies is to help you make better choices. So with fruits being zero PP, you're more likely to pick a fruit over junk food. Example- on momentum a banana was 2 points and a 100 cal pack of cookies was 2 points. Well if I had the choice, I would've picked the cookies. Obv not the better of the two choices. NOW a banana is zero and that 100 ca pack is 3. Which would you be more likely to choose for a snack now? Again it's all about choices. WW doesn't want you "testing" them per say, so I wouldn't recommend going out and eating a dozen bananas in one day, but a banana or two is certainly a better choice than a box of girl scout cookies. Not to mention it's really no different than those who used to do Core and never counted for fruits and veggies.

WW has seen tons of success with PP. Staff has been on it since September and have had great experiences. I hate to be so blunt, but the fact of the matter is, the program works. If it's not working for someone, than chances are something's not being done right on the member's part. Remember, the WW only works if you do the work.

Re: Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

I will agree with you for the most part, but there are exceptions to everything. I never ate 100 calorie crap on Momentum and I don't eat that now. I only eat vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and carbs like brown rice, whole wheat bread, quinoa, kamut, whole wheat pasta, etc. I do not use artificial sweeteners except stevia. I am not stuffing myself with fruit. Fruit has sugar, you have to be careful. I eat half a banana and one-two apples per day. Sometimes I get a little crazy and eat the whole banana. When I want something dessert-y, I eat the same granola bar I always did and count the two extra points it has now. Almost nothing has changed for me on the PP program except the same carbs are now a few extra points per day, I now get ten extra points, and I am eating those ten points. And my weight loss has slowed to a crawl. I don't even do a "cheat" day. I AM doing the work.

WW does work, it always has for me with the exception of the time I was diagnosed with thyroid disease. I just had blood work done, so I know that's not the problem now. I'm to the point that this week I even started tracking my vitamins when I noticed they had calories (I take a liquid whole food vitamin.)

WW didn't have to tell me to eat healthier, I already did. My problem has always been portion control which WW helps me with immensely. I am bringing in my journal this week for my leader to look at. I found out that WW only keeps 60 days of journals online, which was very disappointing. I wanted to compare what I did in the past to now. I really do think that since not much has changed for me except my points have increased, too many points are my problem, but maybe my leader will see something that I'm missing.

Re: Ladies who have been on WW for a long time (esp lifetimers)

i WAS JUST GOING TO POST SOMETHING SIMILAR

I started the old plan in June 2010. I lost about 25 lbs. BUT since January i am STUCK at the 138 lb mark

I track everything and I hardly ever dip into the extra weekly pts. Plus I work out hard core at leats 3 days a week

Is this where I should be> is my body telling me no more weight loss? OR--is it the new plan?Chat Icon
