Ladies with dogs..
DH and I have a dog that we got when we first got married. He will be 2 in November. All he has known is attention from us because he has been our "baby". My shower was last weekend and ever since we brought stuff into the house, Yogi (our dog) has been peeing in the house at least 1 time per day. Luckily, we have tile and pergo floors so it's an easy clean up...but still very annoying. We are still giving him a ton of attention and we play, take walks, and we let him go in the baby's room when we are in there. He loves to sit on the carpet! But still, he is a peeing monster!!! Anyone have any suggestions as to how to address this?

Re: Ladies with dogs..
Just wanted to send you some I know my dog who is a spoiled brat, would poop in the house when he was trying to be spiteful. Not good!! He would do this when I wasn't home or if DH was sleeping and I had left for work. Now, we put gates up in the kitchen and I have him in there while we are at work. He hasn't pooped [inside the house] since. Does your dog pee in the house when you're not home or when you are home?
Edit for spelling

Never when we are not home. He is SO good when we go out. But, for the last week or so he has been peeing in the kitchen when we are not paying attention. For example, DH went outside yesterday to wash his car and I was in the shower. Yogi peed all over the kitchen floor! Then, DH went out and I was in the baby's room putting away shower gifts and he peeing again!!!

Re: Ladies with dogs..
hmmm , i am thinking you have to change his perception on all this baby stuff.
Right now it seems to making him anxious and the same thing will most likely happen once is here.
Try linking a positive experience with all the baby sutff. Put treats in the room , put them in random places, on top of some baby stuff. Sit in the room and pet him. Make sure you dont do anything of this if he just peed bc then you will be rewarding him for that.
Get his mindset to baby sutff = food treats! YAY!
eta - also , walk around the house with the stroller, car seat carrier, put the swing on , etc, get him used to all these things so its not overwhelming once that little baby is here.

No advice, but I will say both m y dog and my friends dog regressed just like this...So I will just say its normal
My dog only started after baby's arrival. And now I think when we dont give her enough attention she starts it again.

Re: Ladies with dogs..
we had the same thing. The dog is just marking his territory on the new items brought into the house. Even when we bought new furniture the dog did this. He is showing his dominance. Try washing as many items as you can with your own detergent. Also try rubbing a fabric softener over the packages of the items you brought into the home. Like the fabric softenener sheets you use on your clothes. The familiar scent may stop your pooch from peeing. Hope this helps.

Re: Ladies with dogs..
Wish I had some advice for you.
We have a 2 year old cocker spaniel who is the "baby" in the house. She is intrigued by the baby stuff and the room but so far no problems. Hopefully it will stay that way. If you figure something out with you dog make sure you post..........just in case we end up with a problem too. Good luck!!

I can also imagine regression might be normal. They are stressed and under change, they are just like children or babies so it makes sense to me. I agree.
I have 2 dogs that are our babies. We have no idea how they will act, but we figure whatever it is, we will deal with it. I wish I had advice to you, but all I can say is try to have patience with the dog as dogs don't have any way of showing or expressing their stress, when things change in the household.
I am sure with love and attention, and a revisit back to basic training, once the dog adjusts to the new family life, it will pass.

Dogs have to be given time to adjust to changes in the house too, you know. They are just like babies or children, they can get stressed and need care and love and attention as well.
