Lake Grove/Centereach/Selden folks... ~ homeless couple?
Any of you ladies know the story or see the couple that appear to be homeless?
I see them often on Middle Country Road, walking with carts. It's a man and a woman. The guy has a big long beard and the woman has big glasses.
I thought of them today, with the weather turning very cold.
Does anyone know if they just hang around town collecting items and they have shelter, or if they are homeless and living on the streets?
I really would like to give them something next time I see them.

I think I know who you're talking about....there is often a second man with them.....younger than the couple. Not sure about them, but have seen them around Independence Shopping center ( where king Kullen is) quite often.

ooh I never saw another person with them. I know I have seen them sitting inside of the bagel shoppe by Bob's and the Selden Post Office.

I think I've seen the same 3 in the Big Lots/Wal-Mart shopping center. Just saw them a few days ago. I don't know anything about them though.

Dont let them fool you. They are theives and not good ppl. She used to own a house on evwrgreen and had mentally disabled ppl living there, she took their ss checks. They abandoned the house and left dogs living there for weeks alone without food or water. It was in newsday.

yes, this is them. I know this bc my family owns a business up the road. They have stolen many times and the people that lived with them have told us terrible things that would break your heart.

Ah, yes. The bottle people. They've been around a long time. I used to work in a supermarket in high school and they would come in to fight with me about the bottle machines. Their hygiene was sooooooo bad and they were not at all nice. They had a van that was filled with bottles and then got a new van not that long ago. DH and I saw them in Red Lobster once having a nice dinner.
I noticed they seem to be homeless now and do feel *somewhat* bad about it.

Yes I know that couple really well. They used to come into Heap at SS. Yes their hygeine is really really bad. My supervisor would only meet with them through the glass window. They are liars and knew how to play the system very well. When asked how their mortgage was paid up and how they paid for car insurance and gas they would tell us from bottle returns. They had to prove to us that they had no other income coming from anyone and they could not prove anything. They do really collect bottles. And they do have a vehicle. It is a brown van and sometimes they park it at the Autozone in Selden other times its by OTB. I am not sure if they have a home or not anymore, but I do know they still have a vehicle.

Don't feel bad for them, they used to come into a store I worked in all the time in Selden they were nasty and always caused problems they are super cheap and she always had huge wads on money in her chest. She would always fight us on every purchase and make things up to the managers to get discounts. They used to come into DH's bank too. And their hygeine is terrible
