Laminate HW flooring - recommendations?
We are going to install laminate HW flooring (some of you may know this as 'Pergo') in our dining room & living room in the fall. Anyway any recommendations? We need to have it installed. This is one project we are not planning on doing ourselves.

Re: Laminate HW flooring - recommendations?
we got a price from diyflooring.com and Harry Katz matched it. DH and I installed it ourselves and it was really easy, IMO. Just a few tricky cuts and the rest were basic cuts.

Re: Laminate HW flooring - recommendations?
if you wanna laugh...we called Empire (as in the commercial)....we made an appt for them to come the day we closed, and they installed the floors the following thursday (they would have done it the next day but we needed to get our painting done first). they were great, quick, (one day) and pretty affordable....we used them bc they offered interest free financing for a year (now i think it's up to two years), so we didn't need to lay out all of the cash right now, it freed it up for other things!! FM me if you need any addl info!!

Re: Laminate HW flooring - recommendations?
We bought it at Ikea & did it ourselves (or I should say DH did it himself...all I did was stand on the boards so they wouldn't move).
It was not too bad, but took almost a whole week. He had to do a little bit at a time every day after work. For some reason he refused to wait until the weekend

we got it from carpet depot and did it ourselves, its relatively easy but if you wanted to get it installed I think its a few dollars more a sq ft.

Re: Laminate HW flooring - recommendations?
we got ours from carpet time in farmingdale- lots to choose from and they had it done in 1 day we did our den livingroom and diningroom now I just have to figure out a good solution to cleaning them- they said to only use windex- but its so streaky so I have to call the manufacturer I guess to find out before I wreck the floors. ( it was expensive though- it adds up with the moldings but well worth it to have a pro do it especially for main floors)

We actually bought ours through Levitz ( yes they have a whole section in the back of the store for this stuff!!! and it was much cheaper then home depot) and DH did it himself.

I hate my pergo floors for this reason...They are ALWAYS streaky When we had our florrs installed they told us to clean them with a cloth mop and Pergo Cleaner...it made my floors look HORRIBLE!!! I have been using Windex with viniger and they have been looking really good but the problem that I have is the cloth mop leaves it steaky also so i have been cleaning them on my hands and knees with a towel and the windex I have learned with my floors if you dont buff the windex (or any cleaner) in REALLY good they will leave streaks

I just use water to clean my floors...it's the only thing that doesn't streak!
