Lamps - pricing

I am looking for a table lamp for my living room. Of course I drive myself crazy, looking at everything out there before I make a decision. At first I was looking and saw a lot of things that I liked (not loved) in the $50 - $100 price range. Then, of course, I come across one that I love that is close to $300. Ugh! lol. It's not crystal or any "exotic" material. The base of the lamp is ceramic. It doesn't have any magical features lol. (I do this to myself all the time - see something I like that is a decent price, but then keep searching and find "the perfect one" for so much more $$ Chat Icon )

So, what makes one lamp so much more $$ than another?

Unfortunately, although this particular lamp is on a lot of websites, they all have it for the same price and even sites that have coupons/discounts, it doesn't apply to this brand, on nay site (manufacturer ban against discounts) Chat Icon

Re: Lamps - pricing

Post a link? Is the designer some name brand? I bought a lamp that was inexpensive and it shorted out the first time I used it. I needed to have it completely rewired.

My advice is you never settle and buy exactly what you want. Even if you wait a little longer to get it. I'm a terrible influence though...

Also check Home Goods and Home Sense. They have a huge selection of lamps. Years ago I saw a lamp at the Pottery Barn outlet. It was over $300 on their website and I got it for like $50 at the outlet. And everyone comments on it. Also check Ikea. I got an awesome table lamp from them for like $50.

Oh, I don't need any influence and won't settle Chat Icon . I usually wind up buying what I really want, even if it's a lot more $$$$ than I anticipated spending Chat Icon

There is also one in Commack, may not be as crazy since it has been open for a while.
