Lancaster vacationers- hershey/Dutch Wonderland question- ride related.

When the kiddie rides have a height minimum does that mean to ride alone or does that mean to rige period. We wanted to take DD on the kiddie rides thinking that we could take her on the kiddie rides, but now I am thinking that she won't be able to go on at all . . .Chat Icon

We were at Hershey recently (without DD though) and there were not many rides for kids that young. Your DD is around a year old right? Many of the kiddie rides they will consider her a hand held infant and will not allow her on the rides.

I'm not sure about Dutchwonderland though since I've never been there

Not sure about Hershey, but, we just got back from DW.
My DD was considered a hand held infant (shes also a peanut compared to many 1 year olds).
We took her on the train ride, monorail, and gondola cruise ride. Was going to take her on the carousel (sit on the bench/seat) but she was sleeping, so, DH took DS.
The park was perfect for a little bit of older kids.
The sprinkler park was nice. You can definitley take her in there. DD loved getting wet. Chat Icon

I'm going to be completely honest and say that I'd wait a year or two on Dutch Wonderland. We went this month and my girls had a ball...but they're 3 and 4; we went to a similar place upstate last summer and even then they were at great ages, but your DD won't be able to do much. The majority of the rides were not for adults to go on with really little ones except for the ones Dawn mentioned above.

If you're in Lancaster anyway, you could always do the Strasburg railroad or the Amish thing...buggy rides, etc. Also, there appear to be a lot of petting farm type places around there--my kids always love those!

I'm sorry I can't be of help with Hershey.

minimum height requirements are to ride the ride at all - sometimes there are rides that have a minimum to ride alone as well as a minimum to ride with parent - but I'm not sure about specific rides at hershey. I haven't been there in a few years.

hey Bri - we just got back from both hershey & dutch (and met up with MrsRbk at Hershey).

like she said - hand held infants cannot ride much at hershey. I think there were 3 rides total Emma could go on (with me).

Dutch Wonderland was pretty much the same thing. The stipulation is 'hand held'.....it limits what they can do. For Dutch - we went, but did the twilight admission - which is discounted and we spent 3 hours in the park (WAY more than enough considering she could only go on 5-6 rides). If DC is a fan of water - the water area at Dutch and Hershey are both fantastic...and you can go with DC through the water areas with little to no issue.

hope this helps!
