Landscaper need in Oyster Bay-Syosset-Muttontown area

The grass, flowers, bushes, trees, etc. are DH's babies. He'd cut the grass with scissors if I'd let him. He is meticulous about all the landscaping and his man cave is out back (our yard backs up to the woods).

Anyway, DH had a pretty intensive surgery 10 days ago and is under doctors orders not to do a thing for a few months- especially mowing, landscaping, etc.

We need to hire a landscaper - but are not looking for someone full time, maybe just once or twice this spring to get us cleaned up, mowed, seeded, weeded, etc.

1. Will we be able to get someone to help us out once or twice - we've never had a landscaper come.

2. What do I ask and what am I looking for when I speak to them?

3. How much are we talking?

Any info you can provide, along with a recommendation would be great!

We have used Ruggia for almost 4 years so far- very happy. I have seen his trucks in Syosset.

Weird, I answered yesterday but my post is gone.

My landscaper won't go where you are but I don't think you will able to just do a couple mowing now and then.

The season just started. You might be able to do it every other week but you won't be able to keep up with weeding/mowing only twice this season since your DH is out of commission for a few months. It would be a complete jungle.

I pay $20 per week just for mowing. They started last Friday. They only do mowing.

Someone I know, they do EVERYTHING (weeding planting beds, etc.), they charge her $1700 for the whole season.

Sophie, I just need them to come 2 times, to get the lawn started, and come June, DH should be well enough to take over and do it himself again. I just can't wait that long, the dandelions are making my lawn yellow, not green!!

And Sophie, are you sure your landscaper wouldn't come up towards me?? Sounds like you got a good deal!
