Landscaping help needed...
Looking for recommendations on good landscapers? Other than clean ups what are the type of services do you ask for when you need plants shaped and trimmed? Costs? what i should be asking companies? Any help would be appreciated. We dont know where to start and have lots to do.
Thanks ladies

Re: Landscaping help needed...
Ugh, no recs. I had a very hard time finding someone for our own home. No one called back... it was a nightmare. We ended up buying all the tools ourselves. We added up what we would have spent for a clean up and weekly cuts, and it came to more than buying what we did. We have a 1/2 acre too so it's a big job, but people are soooo unreliable these days. Hope you find someone soon.

Re: Landscaping help needed...
when we moved into our house, i asked all the neighbors who they used, and took down the numbers of various trucks i'd see in the area then called them for estimates.
We have a spring and fall clean up, lawn fertilization and then weekly lawn maintenance during spring/summer. We pay $30 a week for the maintenance and sometimes an additional $125 for the fall/spring cleanups (at that time they come and fertilize, aerate the lawn, trim bushes, remove dead leaves, etc)
They'll also do planting if we wish. Last year i talked to them about plants during the summer and they went out and bought enough for my front beds, plus the mulch and planted everything for us. This summer we'll do it all ourselves, but they'll do pretty much anything we ask.
hope that helps!

Where do you live? and how big is your yard?
We pay $250 for cleanup and $35/week for cutting. They only do cleanup. No fertilizing
I would love something cheaper (if possible).

Re: Landscaping help needed...
We have a 1/2 an acre and pay $35/week for mowing only. They do hedge trimming once at the end of June if we want and it something like $200. Fall and spring cleanups are around $300 including lime and dethatching. Things like mulch, cutting beds, planting are all extra if you want them. We have a separate service that fertilizes, weed control, etc. That's about another $300 for the season. It adds up! I'd happily recommend my guys if you'd like. I'm in East Northport/Commack.

you aren't lying. My husband called people from the penny saver and some when he saw at some neighbors (there trucks)house and they don't call bk. Very frustrating! Im thinking i want to do exactly what you guys did. Buy all the stuff and DIY! But is a lot as we have a little over a half acre. I'm not sure at this point what to do...

Re: Landscaping help needed...
I think what's best is to go out & ask to speak to the supervisor when you see a gardener at a neighbors'. Our gardener wasn't great either w/ returning calls--we'd just go out & grab them
