Lap to diagnose endo and remove cysts?
Who here has had that done, how is the recovery time afterwards?
I've been having abnormal bleeding every other week for the past few months. I was diagnosed w/ pcos a few years ago and now they think I have endo as well I'm not ovulating regularly, have an ovarian cyst...basically everything is a mess
I've had a lap to remove my appendix, but the dr said the recovery for this is much easier. Is that true?
I'm so sad that we've been having such a hard time. I feel like such a let down to my husband, bc his SA was fine and the problem is all me. I feel like a failure

Re: Lap to diagnose endo and remove cysts?
Aww, sweetheart, you don't have any control over what your body is doing. You have to let yourself off the hook for that, and I'm sure your DH would feel sad to hear you talk that way about yourself
As far as the LAP, they went in to fix my tube. I had the surgery on a Wednesday and I was back at work on Monday. At that point the incisions were still a little sore in clothes, but I wore loose-fitting things for a while and took it slow; I was fine.
I just went through it again on Friday night to have a tube removed, but this was more involved because there was internal bleeding and more incisions. I'm also bored to death today and feel like I could be at work instead of home right now, but I have to admit that I've been tired since it all happened even though the pain's not that bad.
GL Try to be a little nicer to yourself.

Re: Lap to diagnose endo and remove cysts?
I had a lap a few weeks ago to look for endo and sure enough I had a ton. The recovery wasn't bad at all. I didn't even take any pain killers, only Tylenol, as I've gotten very sick from rx pain meds in the past. The worst part for me was the pain in my shoulder from the gas they use during the procedure. It gets trapped inside and takes a few days to break down. I had the surgery late on a Wednesday and was up and out of house on Friday. Granted, it was just short visits to friends and family. The gas pain was really bad on Thursday, but I found that taking gas x every 4-6 hours really helped. Also, I found it better when I laid down with a heating pad by my shoulder when it got bad. I also got up often to walk around. The nurses told me the quicker you're up and about the quicker you recover. After Friday, the gas would come and go. I found if I ate a lot it was worse, and ate small frequent meals instead.....a lot of soups and what not. My incisions never really hurt, just sore and as PP said and I lived in yoga pants for almost 2 weeks. I was also bloated for about 3 weeks, but dr. said it was normal and sure enough it did go away. I got tired very easily for about 6 days after, but would take cat naps here and there. I returned to work the following Tuesday. It was a little rough as I am on my feet all day, but definitely bearable. I just came home each day and relaxed. By two weeks, I was pretty much back to normal with a little tenderness by the incisions. It was wierd as it was inside, but hey I guess since they actually cut through it takes time for the inside to heal. Overall, my experience was great. Expected much worse, but now 5 weeks later, you'd never know I had it and I'm so happy I did do it. Good Luck!

Re: Lap to diagnose endo and remove cysts?
I also had abnormal bleeding from a cyst. It stopped after the lap. I took off the day of and day after. I went back to work the following day but it's a desk job. I was pretty much back to normal 4 days later. I still had that dreaded shoulder pain though. It lessened as the days went by.
Good luck! It's not a walk in the park but it's not too bad. There is pain but mostly the shoulder pain from the gas.

Re: Lap to diagnose endo and remove cysts?
Thanks girls, I really hope they call me back with a surgery date soon, I would rather get this done sooner rather than later. I'm still having such heavy abnormal bleeding Ugh I hate this!

Re: Lap to diagnose endo and remove cysts?
I had the same issues, literally word for word. I had 2 laps done to remove cysts. The 1st one, removed a cyst from my right ovary, and a smaller one from my left, and moderate Endo. The 2nd one was a cyst on my right ovary, and no endo.
The most painful part of recovery for me was the gas pains. The 1st surgery took me about 4 days to be able to stand up, but that's because I had more work done. The 2nd I was sitting up and walking around the following morning.
Good luck!!
