laparoscopy?

Anyone have one? What's it like? Is it day surgery or do I have to stay in the hospital? How long will I be out of commission? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: laparoscopy?

Its ambulatory surgery, you will go home after..

You will be sore and crampy for a few days, so just take it easy for the week. It's really not too bad...

Re: laparoscopy?

Kim, I had laparoscopy to diagnose and remove my endometriosis back in January..

I have a few links somewhere that I can post for you that you may find helpful, but what I can tel you it that its an outpatient procedure using a general anesthetic, (no overnight stay required). And really, its more 'uncomfortable' than painful.. I felt no pain at all

I had my procedure done on a Friday, and was back at work the following Tuesday... as Lisa said, I mainly felt cvery bloated , crampy and a little sore but overall it wasnt bad

ETA: You might find these links helpful -while it talks about having a Lap due to endo, I think you may still find the information helpful for this procedure:

Kim - I would get a 2nd opinion. I never had a lap but my first dr did recommend one for me, after speaking to a 2nd dr I was told that it might not be necessary since because of my FSH our best option is to go to IVF

Good luck!

That is the question of the week....do we go to IVF or continue with more IUI's using different drugs (IUI's are covered via insurance, but IVF is not). So...we agreed that we would get a second opionion and probably the next step will be IVF...I don't want to waste more months on IUI.

that is why we are moving to IVF, it's very likely that my chances of getting pregnant with IUI were similar to me conceiving naturally.

Also my insurance doesn't cover anything so DH and I decided to just put our money towards IVF, which is where we would have probably ended up. I'm also turning 35 in two months so I really don't want to "waste" time if not needed

Good luck in whatever decision you and DH make, we're all here for you Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: laparoscopy?

Thanks Donna. When DH and I first got married, he invoked an age rule...he wanted to have kids by the time he was 42 (he was 40 and I was 30 at the time)....He just turned 41 and we are still on this journey....last night at dinner he took it back...he said it didn't matter. I am almost 32...so when I say I don't want to waste time, it's really for both of us...we ain't getting any younger Chat Icon Chat Icon
