I think you can wear to multiple places.
Not that long, but I sometimes wear sparkly earrings to work if I'm wearing a lot of black.

Large sparkly earrings
I wear big sparkly earrings and hoops all the time - weddings, out to dinner, out for a drink, etc. My hair is usually down so you can't really see small earrings on me.

Wear them when you want!
Seriously, like coffee, wear them with an all black outfit. Holidays, with a LBD, damn, wear them to bed (wink wink).
