LASIK
I am interested in getting LASIK eye Surgery and I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice and recommend a good doctor or place that they went to - to have it done? I have to call my insurance company to see how much I am covered for if I am covered first. What does the surgery usually cost? Thanks, Scott

Re: LASIK
I went to Diamond Vision in Garden City. The actual procedure was in Manhattan though. THere are several different Lasik procedures they can do. Their website has good explanations of the differences. I had Customvue. It was $5000 but worth every penny! Oh, my insurance did not cover any of it.

Re: LASIK
Wow it cost that much? - The benefit person in HR said our insurance may cover some of it. I will have to call and find out. Scott

Re: LASIK
I think it cost that much because of the type of procedure I had. There are other less expensive ones.

Re: LASIK
Had it done 8 years ago by a Dr. Hatsis in Rockville Center. He teaches it to other doctors and he is also known for knowing how to correct the problem if another doctor doesn't do it properly. I wish my DH had gone to him but he had to go to TLC because of Tiger Woods. Actually, we were also happy with TLC.

Re: LASIK
TLC in Garden City
Dr Donnenfeld
I believe mine was $4600 with custom vue ... at the time my insurance guaranteed a price of no more than $1800 per eye and it was an add'l $1000 for the custom vue mapping (which I elected to do because of my astigmatism).

Re: LASIK
I had it done in San Diego, otherwise I'd recommend the Dr. to you in a heartbeat, because he was great. My insurance didn't cover anything, and I remember it being around $5000. There were other places that had specials for cheaper, but I knew for a fact that this guy was a very experienced, highly recommended LASIK surgeon, so I didn't want to go anywhere else.

Re: LASIK
Had it done at Stahl last October. Custom Vue ..insurance covered about 1,500.. I paid a bit under 4 grand out of pocket. It was so easy, quick recovery and worth every single penny! I now have 20/15 vision..before it was horrific- the only letter I could see on the eye chart was the big "E"..thats how bad it was.
I swear if I had to do it all over again, I'd gladly pay 10,15,20 thousand..thats how liberating it is!
