Lasik Eye Surgery???
Has anyone or know someone who has had lasik eye surgery? I am looking to possibly get it done for Christmas for DH. If so how was it? Are you/they happy with the results? Who did it? And if possible approx. how much did it cost??
Thank you so much!

Re: Lasik Eye Surgery???
My DH had it done at Stahl Eye Center. He had a difficult recovery due to the fact that his eyesight was so bad originally but now he can see 20/20. We are very happy with the results and he is glad he got it done. If you want more info you can FM me.

Re: Lasik Eye Surgery???
i wrote an FM to someone on here who was interested in it for their DH so instead of rewriting the whole thing, i will just copy to you what I wrote to her..... fh if you have any additional questions!
ok here we go lol.....
there are a few different methods that are available.... the two that I am most familiar with are the prk surgery (where they cut your eyes) and the custom lasik surgery(where the laser actually makes the eye flap.... no actually cutting what so ever).
They totally dont try to push one or the other at all, it all comes down to the shape and condition of your eyes and what you are a candidate for. the PRK is the cheaper of the two i think probably around 3k or so. It is a much more invasive procedure from what i hear and the healing time takes several days (as far as pain goes). I do know that people who get this type of surgery (PRK) are prescribed vicoden or something to that effect due to the severity of the pain associated with it.
I qualified for the custom lasik, it was a little over 4k. i got a 10% discount because of my insurance plan (GHI with some association with some davids eye plan or what not). the whole procedure took about 20 minutes.... IF that. i was scared TO DEATH, they are very nice and profession but lets be real here.... a laser is about to create a flap around my eye and then smooth it out and then they put the flap back they numb your eye with numbing drops so you really dont feel anything what so ever. after the procedure i got up from the table and looked across the room... i was able to read the time on the wall for the first time that day. they then brought me into an exam room where they checked everything and then did a mini eye test and had me read some letters.... 10 minutes after the surgery I was seeing 20/15 (better than perfect).
I had absolutely no pain what so ever, i went back the next day and was perfect. i had it done on saturday morning (there was a scheduling conflict so i had to be rescheduled so they did it on a saturday but i dont think they normally do) and i returned to work on monday. one year later i am still better than perfect.
I cannot recommend this surgery enough, it truly was the best thing i have ever done, i wouldve paid 10k for it.
let me know if you need anything else at all!

Re: Lasik Eye Surgery???
My DH had it about 5 years ago at the TLC Eye Center in Garden City. THe results were great! I think it cost him about $5000, but that was 5 years ago so I don't know about the prices now.

Re: Lasik Eye Surgery???
I have a friend who had it and she said it was one of the best things she ever did. She finally got rid of all her glasses. I can find out the information and let you know. I will probably see her when I go back to work on Tuesday. You can send me a FM if you'd like me to find out. I had an eye surgery a year ago to have some small tissue(tissue was causing redness and irritation on my eyes) to be removed from my eye. My surgery was very simple and had nothing to do with my vision though but they were totally awesome from the time that I got to the hospital for the surgery and for my follow up appointments afterwards. The Doctor that I went in the city is the Director for the Eye and Ear Infirmary Hospital in the city. His office is in that hospital. He does this type of surgery. There is a famous football player that had it done there by him. If you'd like, I can give you his information. I think his prices are pretty reasonable. He also has a website that I can send you. One of his secretaries had it done and she talks to everyone about her experience. I've heard her talking to other patients who are considering to have this surgery. If I wear glasses and could have that surgery done, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But I don't need to. I have 20/20 vision which I'm so grateful for.....
ETA>>>Here is the Dr's information at the Eye & Ear Infirmary. John A. Seedor, M.D. New York Eye & Ear Infirmary 310 East 14th Street New York, New York (NY) 10003 PH (212) 505-6550
His website is this one... http://www.eyeny.com/surgeons/seedor.shtml

Let me know if you want me to find out about the other Dr that my friend had Lasik surgery.

I had it done about 5 years ago, for $2500 (in CA though, so no recommendations)
I'd absolutely do it again

My DH had it too about two years ago here. Dr. Donnenfield (sp??) was his doctor and did an amazing job. My DH had HORRIBLE eyesight. Now its better then mine. He has had some issues with halos in his right eye (usually driving at night with headlights), but they said they will fix it for free (called adjustments) if he wants to. We paid approx $5,000 for it too, but his eye care plan paid for a third of it. The costs includes his maintenance check ups and any adjustments.
