last few weeks

how did you ladies make it through the last few weeks???

i feel like i can't make it anymore. the pressure i feel when i try to walk is becoming unbearable. that combined with back pain and legs so swollen they can barely be lifted, makes it so painful.

it use to be that the day started out ok and as it progressed it would get uncomfortable, but now i feel like i wake up in pain and it never ends.

i'm sorry to just complain, but i was just sitting on my couch crying and crying and i feel like i'm never going to make it to the end. and then on top of this, this is probably nothing compared to the end!! Chat Icon

Re: last few weeks

sorry Lisa, but unfortunately I never made it past 33.5 weeks. But I know that, then, I was in pain.

You can do it. Just relax and keep your feet up, the pain is well worth it in the end!Chat Icon

I only made it to 35 weeks but I was in pain and so uncomfortable. It will end, try and rest up and get your feet elevated.

Re: last few weeks

I never made it past 29 1/2 weeks and i was in so much pain then. I couldn't even walk without the urge to pee and the leg and back pain was just awful. Felt great up until that point and as soon as it got unbearable I went into labor. It was scary then but now everyone jokes that I had the fastest pregnancy....Hang in there it will all be over soon..put your feet up. One of the best parts of the labor was when they put the catheter in..Because i didn't have to get up and peeChat Icon

While I did make it to 38 weeks (they wouldn't let me go anymore) I was feeling pretty good most days until the last 10 days or so. I was retaining a fair amount of fluidChat Icon and would get so tired so easily. I remember getting up late, taking a shower and being exhausted just from that and having to go back to bedChat Icon... never mind leaving the house. Even running to the store to get a few things, I was winded so I can sympathize.

Try to elevate your legs as much as possible and if DH can, have him massage your feet and legs pushing the fluid towards your core... it does help. I remember my feet were so swollen that the fluid would giggle when I walked up stairsChat Icon

I know it can get really boring having to sit around so much. Chat Icon Chat Icon You are almost there.

Your gonna get there, Its not gonna be easy but you will get there.

I think honestly, some women just arent designed as well as others. I see women 36-38 weeks walking around like NOTHING...when Im in pain just walking to the kitchen and back....you have so much pressure in there, there is nothing you can do but wait it out and cry it out and vent and just do anything you have to or can do to make the day go faster and convince yourself it will be over soon.

I feel for you hun, you know you can call me anytime, Im home dealing with the same thing , except I only have to deal with one baby.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Lisa, hang in there! You're doing a great job and youhave every right to be frustrated about the discomfort. Just relax, and if you don't need to go anywhere, just hang out on the couch and put your feet up.

Re: last few weeks

I made it to 37 weeks, and my Dr. would have let me go to 38 weeks, but I couldnt take it, plus it was dead in the summer, so I swelled up like a balloon.

Re: last few weeks

Oh Lisa we have all been there. I was in agony my last three weeks (I went at 36 weeks). I could barely walk to the bathroom and that was a trip i was taking about 15 times a day. Waking up at night was sooooo painful I thought it was never going to end.

Just sit and relax and do nothing. I watched tons of movies, read books, and ate. Trust me it will be quite awhile after the babies are here that you can do those things.

I swear once they are here you totally forget about this time. ANd honestly once it got pretty bad I can't say it got worse...it pretty much was just bad till the end.

Feel free to vent away though. We have all been there!!! Chat Icon

Re: last few weeks

I made it to 37 weeks as well, its NOT EASY!!! It is very painful and uncomfortable, my only saving grace was knowing I wasn't the only one going thru this! IRISHTRACY was PG at the same time as me, so I kept saying to myself, you are not alone! Just hang in there - stay OFF of your feet! You are in the home stretch at this point, so you need to stay off your feet as much as possible.
Like Ali said - once they are here - all will be forgotten! You are doing great.

Re: last few weeks

I feel your pain. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon My helped me through it was knowing that my girls were getting cute little baby fat on them.Chat Icon I felt lucky I made it that far.

Seriously though it was rough. I could not wear shoes, was not sleeping. I was up everyday at 3:45. My mind was going crazy I felt the need to clean and organize everything.

The only advice I have is relax.... rest... because once the twins come... you might just be a little busy. Chat Icon

Lisa...hang in there...I also went to 37 weeks. It became unbearable! Everyone told me at the time to get rest and enjoy putting my feet up on the couch...because pretty soon, I will not have that luxury. I didn't listen! I felt sad and helpless and pushed myself to do as much as possible. Now, looking back, I wish I took more of that advice.

If I were you, try to remember what you are getting out of all of this discomfort! You will soon have 2 beautiful babies to love. Keep your feet up, rent some good movies and relax.

thank you ladies, for all your supportive words of encouragement!! it feels good to remind myself that others have made it through, so i will be able to also.
