Last minute gift help needed... wine suggestion anyone?
I'm looking to get my very-hard-to-please-sister a bottle of wine since she's hosting Christmas. DH and I don't drink, so I have no clue what to get. Another sister said she drinks "pink wine" (is that blush? ).
Any recommendations for a *really* good brand? Price is not important.
TIA!
Happy Holidays!

well, if she drinks "pink" i would go for either a blush or rose. Food and Wine Mag recommends these:
Tablas Creek Vineyard Rosé, Paso Robles (2002) - United States > California This wine's smoky red cherry and mineral flavors deserve serious attention. source: 2004 Wine Guide United States $$$ ****
Domaine Tempier Rosé, Bandol (2000) - France > The Midi With a bouquet garni of herb and mineral notes in the berry flavors, this rosé reaches a higher plane than most. source: 2003 Wine Guide France $$ ****
Tablas Creek Vineyard Rosé, Paso Robles (2000) - United States > California This rosé of Rhône grape varieties is one of California's best ever, with true cherry flavors, herb notes, and profound minerality. source: 2003 Wine Guide United States $$$ ****

Thank you so much! I wonder if we can get this at any wine store. DH can always ask the clerk for a suggestion, but I'd much rather send him in prepared!

You will be able to find roses and blushes at any wine store, yes. If you are on the Island, I would recommend going to Stew Leonard's down in the Airport Plaza in Farmingdale. They have a fantastic selection and are very good about making recommendations. I was at the bottle's and cases on 25A in Huntington abt 30 min ago and it was a nightmare trying to get in and out of there. You might have more luck with the B&C in Fort Salonga. But if you can get to Stew's, it's worth it.
