LATCH weight limits and the cars they are installed in
Some may not know but their car may not be rated to hold a LATCHed car seat to the seats recommendations

I'm confused. What does it mean if you car isn't listed? You have to check the book for you seat?

check what book? If its not on the list the manufacturer gave no info to them about the limits the anchors can hold.

now I'm really confused too!
Do you have to attach the lower latch and the anchor (tether).
My husband attached the latch and ran the seat bealt through the back, is that enough?
It says up tp 40lbs on that list so what happens after 40 it won't hold them in?

Yes, the latch is good up until that weight listed, and then I guess its suggested you secure the car seat with the seatbelt and tethers?

The carseat book. Also if it's rear facing I assume you can't use the tether. Is that right?

You are only supposed to use one or the other, not both. Either LATCH or seat belt.

Im not sure what you mean. This is the anchor limit for cars with children who are 40lbs... I would assume a 40lb child would be forward facing.

I was two separate things. Ours is still rear facing and I had no idea about the tether until reading things today but I think I understand this tether is only for a forward facing seat.
Then on the link you posted the asterik says if the vehicle is not listed it defers to child restrain instructions (i was assuming that meant the instruction book that comes with the car seat).
Does that make sense? Sorry I'm being so confusing.
DH dealt with all this which is why I'm so clueless.
