late period question
I've always been pretty regular - especially after I had my son in 2009. But this month I'm 8 days late - latest I've ever been before is a day.
I recently had the flu and I've been going through some emotional ups and downs, so that could explain it. I'm dating a guy that's been fixed for a long time, and I took a pregnancy test last Friday (after being 5 days late) and it said no.
I feel really bloated and feel like I'm hungry a lot. Please oh please don't let it be a pregnancy, but all the actual signs point to no.
Is there any other reason why I could be this late and feel so yucky? I'm 48 so I'm guessing perimenopause will be hitting soon but my periods have been super regular - nothing out of the ordinary.

Re: late period question
If the test was negative I think it is probably just stress related. If you still don't get it by next week I'd probably go to the GYN.

Re: late period question
The older I get, the weirder my period gets. I'm guessing it's related to just getting older.

Re: late period question
It's your age most likely, my periods have been wonky since I got into my 40's. The tests are rarely wrong- especially at 8 days late. Add to that being sick, etc

Sheesh - I hope that's the case b/c the idea of being pregnant at my age by a guy that I just started dating is terrifying!

Re: late period question
At 48, it’s probably peri menopause related. My periods were very regular, and then all of a sudden, they weren’t anymore. I took a pregnancy test even though I had my tubes tied many years earlier. Hang in there, and try not to stress about it.

the chances of getting pregnant are very slim at 48. And then the fact that he had a vasectomy. I think you are ok... but yeah I'd be nervous too. But those tests are pretty damn accurate.

late period question
Good to know that the tests are accurate!
Weird follow up, I was waking around the mall last night and all of a sudden it felt like I started my period and I was soaking through my pants. I ran to the bathroom and it wasn’t my period but something clear. Almost like my water broke! I couldn’t tell if it was urine but I didn’t need to go to the bathroom at the time it gushed out. Sooo weird! I’m going to make an appt with the gyno next week!

I find that when I am ovulating I get a TON of discharge like that- cervical mucous I guess- so bad that I soak through panties. It's nasty. It was never like that before i had DD I know it's late for you to be ovulating, but maybe you just skipped a cycle and are ovulating now? I'd get checked out just to be sure though.

Re: late period question
I’m sorry you are going through this.
That being said, I have had major changes in my period and I’m 41, so I guess it is starting early for me. My mom says everything ended for her at 50, so they usually say that it follows your mom. My sister has been going through it as well and she is 48.
I have taken a million tests and I use protection. I guess it’s just all changing. Someone told me the other day that it could take 13 years for it all to change.
I have very light ones now. I guess I’m happy about that and I don’t get cramps anymore thank god. The schedule is totally off as well. I was so regular before
My gyno checked me out and everything was fine.
Good luck to you!

Re: late period question
My period was like 12 days late this month, and over a week late last month. I have always gotten it every 22 days like clockwork for the most part. I'm 42, so I think it's just par for the course at this age!

late period question
I ended up getting my period after it was late 13 days. I went ahead and made an appointment anyway - just to check there's nothing weird going on.

Re: late period question
Probably the start of perimenopause. I think I started around that age, everything got wonky. I am officially done and in full blown menopause. Hit the 1 year mark since my last period.
