I'm late to this, having just read your original post but I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about Erin's diagnosis 
To answer your question - there is absolutely nothing on this earth that money could be better suited for than to give your daughter a shot at the best possible life she can lead! In essence, that's what we all save it for, right? Well, her need for it just came a bit sooner than someone else's but the timine of it is not even remotely relevant.
LIF - I'd love to participate in some sort of fundraiser as well!
