I'm wondering why SIRM does not post results. Interesting. Does anyone use them?

Its interesting to look at, but I take it with a grain of salt. Being in the medical field there are a million and one ways to get the statistics to say what you wnat them to. It is interesting how much lower RSNYs stats were. I was surprised to see NSUH have a higher success rate for my age than Cornell. But again, probably everyone with a "tough case" goes to cornell and your run of the millers go to a local clinic. Even that effects the results.

BUt thanks for posting, I always like to look at them.

HOLY CR*P!!

Look at NYUs stats for under 35, they are the highest I have seen and they only ICSI 23%.
Even when you limit to MF they still have a very low ICSI %Chat Icon Chat Icon

I used SIRM in NY. They do not participate for the exact reasons Pauline mentions. Stats can be so skewed to fit your purposes. However, if you look on IVF Connesctions you will see a LOT of success stories at SIRM-NY for women who were not successful at other high-profile clinics in NYC. Fortunately I was successful on my second IVF and I feel that I owe it ALL to my RE.

Example -- some clinics will not take certain cases -- women over 35 with high FSH, women who have been unsuccessful at other clinics, etc. They basically pick and chose - in order not to mess up their stats.

I have a friend whose DH has Multiple Sclerosis. He froze his sperm as soon as he found out - when he was in his 20s. Fast forward to marrying my friend at 40 years of age, they want a baby -- only ONE clinic in NYC would work with them. The rest refused, they were afraid the frozen sperm would not work and would mess up their statistics.

I just FM Laurie about the interpretation...and mentioned the exact same thing about certain clinics not accepting certain patients and also about the way stats are reported. Which is why when I look at stats in any field, I am always Chat Icon

Re: Latest Stats for clinics are out

I was confused at first why not all clinics are on the sart website, I asked my md . He said sart is voluntary but they publish results much quicker, it is a peer association of doctor's and clinics. Whereas all clinics are required by law to report to the cdc but they take much longer to publish results. here is the cdc link
