Lawn care help
We haven't moved into our new house yet and we're contemplating contacting a landscaper. Just to do a fall cleanup, cut the grass. We can't buy a lawn mower for a little while.
I thought we could get away with just raking leaves but the lawn is a little high. Not terribly so, there are no weeds. But I honestly don't know when grass stops growing for the season and if it might be worth it to just leave it alone?
If all we need to do is leaf cleanup and gutter cleaning, I think we'll do it ourselves.
So... my questions...
Are you still mowing your lawn right now? Do you have a recco for a good landscaper in the Smithtown area - preferably one who is environmentally concious? Can you give an idea of the cost of doing a final fall cleanup? And do landscapers do gutters too?
Thank you!!

Re: Lawn care help
My landscaper stopped mowing a few weeks ago. We pay extra for organic treatments, which my landscaper fights us tooth and nail on since the lawn doesn't look at "nice". Whatever - it's green, I don't care about the clover patches. We insist on organic b/c my son has severely dry skin so we eliminate as many chemicals as possible from his life.
I forget what the fall cleanup was, maybe $75?
Mine doesn't do gutters, but there are lots of companies in the phone book who do. I'll look up later who we use.

Re: Lawn care help
We just cut our lawn for the last time on Saturday. I don't plan on mowing it again until the spring unless we have an unseasonable winter & the grass grows. Since we are having frost in the morning & not really warm temps in the day, the grass should be done.
If it was me, I think I would just do a quick cleanup myself & then worry about hiring a landscaper for the spring. At work, we have a landscaper & he just sent us a letter that the fall cleanup will be done in 1 week & if you are not getting one done, he will be back in contact with us in March.
