Re: LC needed
someone named Dawn Frank was once recommended to me, if you want to look her up. I never used her though so I cannot really recommend her but I have heard her name a lot.

Re: LC needed
I can ask my sister - but it was about 6 years ago. It really did help her.
Also you could try La Leche's website?

Re: LC needed
I tried speaking to LLL....and since my baby does get 2 formula supplements a day and primarily gets BM in a bottle (we nurse a few times a day) as per my DR since he was having weight gaining issues in the beg- I just feel LLL makes you feel bad for giving formula and writes off pumping...JMO

Re: LC needed
Only the first visit is $165 - subsequent are I think $75 each (if you need to go back). Check with your insurance - sometimes they cover it.

Re: LC needed
Marissa - what exactly is the problem? I can ask my friend (who nursed 4 kids consecutively...awwww!!) and my sister (who nursed until her daughter was 3...oh not for me...).

Re: LC needed
Maybe FM Michele31? I remember her posting a few times that she had to build up her supply by pumping, maybe she has some tips for you. I don't see her post much anymore, but maybe she checks her FM.

Re: LC needed
LCs are professionals and charge for their time. I will say that it is less costly to pay to see the LC then to buy formula. I spent $1K between LCs, a rental pump and my pump in style advance and Scott worked out the numbers. We still saved a TON over buying formula for the year.
Dawn Frank is South Shore Lacation Consulting in Babylon. (631) 587-1197 She is not-anti formula but she does believe that if you see her you will do the work to make BF work. I had to use formula for Molly for 4 weeks while getting my supply corrected. Dawn was very supportive of it and told me NOT to withhold formula from Molly just to make BF work. You will probably need to NURSE the baby often and pump in order to get your supply up.
When I spoke with LLL the women actually told me that the fact I was pumping BM for my daughter since she did not latch properly (after bad advise from a hospital ped) was amazing. I didn't think it was amazing, but they were NOT anti-pumping. In fact, most working moms must pump to provide BM for their children.
If you have specific questions just ask. I can try to help you. Editted to add that I do check my FMs every few days in case anyone needs me.
