Lead in prenatal vitamins?!

I have been taking Rainbow Light Prenatal One since getting my BFP back in Feb. and I showed them to the doctor at my first (8 week) visit who said they looked fine. Yesterday I was doing reading about them and find out they have LEAD!!! They are made from food and so because there's lead in soil, water, and our plants the vitamins have lead in them. I immediately called my Obgyn's office and they gave me a prescription prenatal.

Apparently it's hard to find prenatals that don't contain lead (at least for me since I've been searching all over the internet).

Should I be concerned for my baby since I've been taking these since Feb.?

FYI you've been eating lead as well. Since lead is naturally occurring in food, it would then lead to having any vitamins made from food/vegetables to contain trace amounts as well. Organic foods actually have higher amounts. The amounts in the vitamins are TRACE, and NOT harmful.

Yes, this is what I was discussing with my doctor's office when I called and they gave me the prescription. I'm just worried about taking a concentrated dose of lead all at once every day along with all the other lead I'm ingesting in water, food, etc. LOL

(probably irrational thinking I know, but I'm a first time mom here and my brain is in overdrive mamabear mode.)

It's actually not really concentrated. It's not something I would worry about... though I remember the beginning of my pregnancy, I was worried about EVERYTHING. All I wanted was spinach and artichoke dip and I was nervous over the cheese - which was pasteurized and heated, LOL.

I'm the same way! LOL Which is SO unlike me!! I'm never a worrier... Normally I'm the person who's like "yum these asbestos potato chips taste great... now with extra asbestos!" lol but since getting pregnant I'm always worried about the baby.

Thanks for making me feel better!

Don't worry about it. As people said, there are trace amounts of lead in many foods we eat. I took Rainbow Light Prenatals for over a year -- during the months we were trying and throughout my entire pregnancy -- I have a beautiful, healthy 10 day old DD!
