Leaky valve in the heart..any experiences with it?
Has anyone here ever been diagnosed with a leaky valve in their heart? Or maybe a mom or dad with it?
My mom just found out she has this. They said it has probably been there since birth but never found. She went for a bunch of tests because she was suffering from heart palpitations and other things and they found this.
They said as long as she keeps it under control and doesnt stress too much, it should be fine..but the words just make me so nervous.
Anyone have this or know anyone with it?

it really doesn't affect my life at all, other than having to pop 4 huge pills before going to the dentist

Yeah it doesn't affect me either. I was having a few heart palpitations and it made me nervous. Just glad I got it checked out.

i have that also. but I was tested a few years back and I do not have to take anything before going to the dentist anymore. They changed the standards.

It is probably mitral valve prolapse or something similar. It' s so common. I have a trace regurgitation of the tricuspid valve. I was having palpitations from it at one time, but my doctors were not concerned at all. There are medications if the palpitations are very uncomfortable or annoying.

Yes she has mitral valve prolapse....
I was wondering if anyone took any meds for this. Any beta blocker type medications.
My mom was told to take one and its making her very sick. She doesnt know if her system just has to get used to it or if shes having a bad reaction to it.
Anyone have any experience with any meds?

I took beta blockers for High blood pressure and they didnt make me sick at all. She should speak to her doc about it....
