Well I'm not sure what you are asking...but every leapfrog explorer/leappad game is a learning tool. They are all learning games. Each game cartridge covers different things and is for different ages...
For example Mr Pencil:
Help save the town by writing letters and drawing lines, shapes and objects. • Create your own art using cool tools, colors, filters, stamps and effects. • Become an animator by creating your own flip book. • Teaches letter writing, number writing, shapes and art and drawing. Appropriate for children ages 4 to 7 years (grades pre-K to 1).
Some of the games teach math skills, others reading or letters, some teach social skills etc.
Or are you asking if there is just a program that says - this is the letter A - but isn't a game?

no its just that i looked at the leap pad games and they seemed like video games. my DD plays on my ipad i have apps that aren't 'video-gamey' if that makes sense. :)

I understand they use the games to teach the information. I know some have actually practicing writing letters though because my DD has the explorer (which takes the same games) and she is writing letters on there, and they also do some rhyming games (put the book on the shelf with the picture that rhythms with the example). Not all of them are "video game" like - but yes they are mostly games to make it more fun. There are many games to choose from so you don't have to choose some of the ones that are more "video" game like.
I guess I look at it - I can always sit her down and say this is the letter A, write the letter A, etc myself but it isn't as much fun as counting in a game etc. This makes a lot of the learning more exciting. I mean I don't think it is meant to replace learning but to add something fun to it.

There are games (about 100) on the leapfrog connect in the leapfrog home. I have not looked through the entire thing but maybe one of them will have what you are looking for.
