Lease deals
We are trying to find a reasonably priced mid-sized SUV. We're interested in probably the Honda CR-V or Pilot, Toyota Rav 4, and anything else similar rating-wise (as far as safety and gas efficiency). We're open to suggestions. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Lease deals
Thanks for your input - that's really what we're looking for. Of course I'd like an attractive car, but since living in the city for the last 4 years, I haven't really been a driver. We're now in the suburbs and I feel like I'm learning to drive again so I need something safe, and as you say, "sturdy"!

Re: Lease deals
The Pilot is considerably bigger than the CR-V, and can have a 3rd row option. The Rav 4 is right between the 2, but also offers a 3rd row option. Of all of them the Rav is the easiest to drive IMO & had the most features for the $$.

Re: Lease deals
we just got the mazda cx-7 and i love it!
Mazda CX-7
i hustled the crap out of the dealer! he started us at $445 with $3500 down for 39 months. i got him down to $309/month with $2000 down for 36 months and had him make it an AWD! pretty good on gas considering its an SUV. i love it cause of the bose sound system, a sunroof, and 6 cd changer. DH loves it cause its duel exhaust with turbo.

Re: Lease deals
We have an 05 Pathfinder. Good truck but I wouldn't get another truck. I found it less than useful for us overall and more on gas.
But what I want to tell you is to negotiate your lease based on the price of the car. Don't negotiate on a monthly payment. I will also tell you to put as little money down as possible. Nothing if you can get away with it.
Our lease deal is $360/mo for 36 months. We put tax and first month down. The reason you don't want to put anything down is because if God forbid you total the car you won't get that money back. If you throw it all in the lease the gap insurance will pay the lease off including any difference in residual value.
Use Edmunds.com and Consumer reports to get the invoice price of the car. It should also tell you what dealer incentives and holdbacks are being offered to the dealer.
Do not pay more than invoice price on a car.
