Leather sofas
I have never owned leather furniture before...but Dh found a leather sofa he really wants for our new home. Tell me about your leather furniture...do you like it? Is it uncomfortable at times? If you have a great set, where did you get it? I am just nervous, I like the way it looks, but I am just unsure.

Re: Leather sofas
i love the look of leather.
esp. with that color, you cant stain it, its very easily cleanable.
the only negative for me, is that i HATE when its hot and you stick to it.

That is a concern for me too. Yet Dh said, "we'll have central air"....

Re: Leather sofas
I love leather. I've had leather in my den forever. It's very low maintenance. Also if you have a dog it's perfect.
I purchased mine from Macy's Furniture Outlet in Carle Place. They have a clearance center with many nice leather pieces and very good prices!!
Actually, the sofa you posted looks a lot like mine.
Here are pics

Re: Leather sofas
We have a leather couch. I love it. It's really easy to clean, and we've had it for 2 years and it looks just as good as it did the day we bought it. And I have never stuck to it in the heat, it's as cozy as a fabric couch.

Re: Leather sofas
We have a leather sleeper couch (very similar to the one you posted) in our co-op. It looks very nice, and is quite comfortable, but I have been thinking it may not give that "cozy" feel when we move into a house. So, I think we're going to get a big plush chair (that seats two) that compliments it.
As far as pets go, I have always been concerned a dog would scratch it. When we watch my mom's dog, we throw a slipcover over it to protect it.

Also, I've never had this problem. This only happens in cars. If your leather in your home gets this hot then you have a much bigger problem. You could only experience this if the leather is placed in direct sunlight which is not recommend because it could cause fading in the long run.
I have central air. With or without it, I have never had problems with my leather during hot summer days.

I agree. I only hat it in the summer. Mine are so comfy...and also if you have pest, it hides the hair very well

Re: Leather sofas
we have chocolate leather in our basement family room, it a different style but very easy to maintain. The one you posted looks very comfy. We don't let the dog on it though because I'm afraid his nails would scratch it. It always very cool in our basement so I never stick to it, but sometimes in the winter I put a throw on it before I sit down because it feels cooler than the room. Ours was my DH's choice as well. not the best pic & its from Christmas

Re: Leather sofas
I am having problems with mine now
it's a leather sectional from fortunoff and 2 cushions have cracks in the leather- it's 2 that we don't even sit on
I am going there tomorrow to talk to them
it's very comfy and we love it- I am just upset that it doesn't look as good as it should- I wanted to keep it for a long time
it's not even 2 years old!

Re: Leather sofas
I have a cat and leather sofas. They're not hot in the summer. Like someone said, if they are, you have bigger issues. Central air takes care of that.
Get them treated for stains...that way you can just wipe them off if there are any spills.

Re: Leather sofas
We have 2 from Levitz and 1 from Huffamn-Koos. I love them, they are easy to keep clean and the dog's hair is brushed right off. I actually find leather to be cooler in summer - I guess having the a/c on helps. In winter I do find it to be a bit chilly, but we have tons and tons of throws that we cuddle up with.
