Makes me so nervous the way he puts everything! in his mouth! and he is obsessed with leaves.

I just gave him a leaf from a tree, he played with it for 20 minutes while I watched. He even did something he hasn't done in a whole month, babble to it!

I gave him a stern no, when he tried to put it in his mouth, and thats all it took, he pretty much just crushed it, waved it, shaked it, crushed it more.

Just curious how bad would it have been if I didn't catch him before he put it in his mouth?

I'm researching the tree type, not sure what it was.

This is what kids do, you would Chat Icon if you knew half the things DS has put in his mouth by his age (20 months). You just get used to it after awhile and try to get it out before he swallows anything. Chat Icon

DS has eaten leaves and grass - yet he won't eat any solid foods other than cheerios (we've tried things that I think taste better than leaves and grass personally).

This year, he's into popping in acorns like they're grapes! Chat Icon

Last year he got a leaf in his mouth when he was young and I got it out, so I thought but after we went in, he started gagging and spit up a little. Thought it was normal, changed his shirt. Then he did it again and I found a little piece stuck to the roof of his mouth. Chat Icon

The gag reflex should kick in and even if some goes down, it will be fine. But just be careful.

Wow, thanks, I must be overparanoid!

I'm so happy I can give him a leaf to play with when he's cranky in the stroller. he's facing me and I can watch him, but I was so worried it would be poisonous or something ... sorry to be such a city slicker to think tree leaves are poison Chat Icon
