Lentils-age and prep?
How old was DC when you tried lentils and how did you make them?

Re: Lentils-age and prep?
I've given them to my DD since 1yr old. I use a pressure cooker to cook them with rice. I add a little bit of butter and salt after and give it to DD with either meat and/or veggies

Re: Lentils-age and prep?
As soon as she started eating table food- probably 8mos, give or take. DH makes spinach and lentil soup and she has loved it since the first time she tried it.

Re: Lentils-age and prep?
I sautee a little onion, celery, and garlic, add the lentils, 4 cups of water and a veggie bullion cube. Sydnie loves them. For an infant I would just leave out the celery I guess since the pieces can be big.

Re: Lentils-age and prep?
I started lentils around 7 months I think. I used to cook them in chicken broth and mix them w/ pastina and sprinkle a little romano cheese on them. DS LOVED them!!

Re: Lentils-age and prep?
I think I did them around 8 months.. I followed wholesomebabyfood.com
I cooked the lentils in water with some carrots, celery, and cardamom. I pureed it after.. it was one of Chloe's favorites - too bad she wont eat it anymore!
I make lentil soup with diced tomato and spinach and it is pretty tasty

Re: Lentils-age and prep?
6.5 months...I cooked them with carrots and brown rice in water. I also added some steamed apple, and pureed the whole mixture.

Re: Lentils-age and prep?
Annabel Karmel (i think that's her name) has a great recipe in 100 Baby food Purees. It's red lentils with sweet potato. DS always loved this and still does. Really easy to make, great consistency, and freezes really well. I think DS was about 9/10 months when he tried this.

I made it this way too (soaked lentils first), prob around 8 mos, but only because I didn't think to give it to him. He had lentil soup the other day too and LOVED it!
