"let a sleeping baby sleep"
At what point, if any do you wake your dc when they are napping. I have woken my daugher if she sleeps more then two hours in the late afternoon or early evening in hopes that she will sleep longer at night. People think I am crazy. I am wondering you ladies feelings on this.

Re: "let a sleeping baby sleep"
My ped told me to wake her after a 3 hour nap. I agree though that it depends what time of the day it is. If it's in the morning, I'd let her sleep. If it were closer to bedtime, I'd wake her.

I only wake him up if he it is starting to run into his bedtime and he hasn't had dinner yet.
Or if I am going out and he needs to wake up.

I never wake him up unless he would miss dinner. I figure that if he is sleeping that long there is a reason. I never let my son go past 3 hours when he was a newborn because I was BF'ing.

I don't wake him, ever. Sometimes if I have to leave to go somewhere I will start moving around in his room and hope that he hears me and gets up on his own. But I would only do that if it's about the time he would wake up on his own anyway.

Re: "let a sleeping baby sleep"
So does she sleep longer at night when you wake her from late naps? My guess is probably not...
I agree with the whole "never wake a sleeping baby" unless it's going to interfere with an established early bedtime. They need their sleep. Plus I don't have the heart to do it...even now and Jake is almost 2! If he oversleeps on a weekday morning, I have to send DH in to wake him.

Re: "let a sleeping baby sleep"
You are right, when I try to make some extra noise to wake her up, she still is sleeping the same 5 hours at night... but I was thinking that without the long nap maybe it could be a longer stretch. You know how it is, tierd moms will look for almost any solution to get longer sleep stretches at night! I thank everyone for their imput, it really helps reading the variety of views.
