let's play "be my hair stylist"

here's the story...
i am 30, but look much younger.
i dress appropriately for work- business casual during the week and suits on the weekends, so i know it's not my clothes that are the issue.

i can't help how i look, even when i wear make up--that can only age me so much....

i think maybe if i changed my hairstyle that might add to a more mature look?
the old people say they dont find me to be comforting (which is code for: she's so young) and other people who are 10+ yrs older than me see me as "the kid" and there are respect issues w/ them too...

i am very low maintenance when it comes to my hair, so what would be easy for me to keep up w/ and still maintain length?

TIA!
here's a pic of me to help you...

i think the curls make you look younger. and you need something to frame your face. i suggest long side bangs, a side part and use a hair straightener! hth!!

i love your curls, i think you should keep them! my hair is curly too and i finally found a cut i love. i really like the length of your hair, but i would get some shorter layers around your face for more shape. and i would not worry too much about makeup, but i would wear lipstick, that definitely will polish your look.

truthfully, you don't look "too young" - definitely not 30, but in that suit, definitely professional! sounds like your congregation needs a swift kick in the pants Chat Icon

ETA: i would also move your part more to the side if possible, that will help i think! Chat Icon

If you don't want to cut your hair, pulling it back in a low tight ponytail will "age" it a bit and look polished and professional.

I say leave it alone. I like long hair and I never cut mine even when I looked young for my job. You could wear it up sometimes, too.

I recently fell in love with these hairclips, called the Designer Comb. The EZ-comb is a knockoff from them but I only like the originals. I was even considering becoming a reseller of these but I have to put that on a back burner now.

I don't like this particular set of colors but here is how they work:

I also like the length. I think you need more layers and I would color your hair a little darker, it will give your hair a lot of shine too.

I also think updating your suits might help. The one in the picture doesn't look like it fits your properly and the shirt seems to mature for you. I think if you wore a suit that fit you better and a fun modern top underneath it will make you look more your age.

I say leave your hair long. Maybe get long layers. Not sure about those clips posted above. They remind me of the 80's..

Re: let's play "be my hair stylist"

gwt the right cut and don't get a cut that you need to blow out or straighten. I have hair a little curlier than yours, and have had so amny diffrent styles, don;t go too short, DON"T use those clipsChat Icon (those are so weird, all the old lady hosptial volunteers where I work wear themChat Icon), use the right priducts, I think you need some long layers and maybe a graduated layer around your face., but you need to go to a curl specialist, I go to Jennifer @ Colors in CSH, she is trained by the Devachan staff, they specialize in curly hair, good luck

You don't have to wear it straight to look more professional.

It just needs more shape. Maybe something like this:

Kerri Russell

Also, I agree that maybe your suits need an update. (Just based on that one in the picture.) It's okay ( that blouse is a great color on you), but I think the instinct to go traditional to look more professional can backfire when you look young & make you like you are wearing someone else's clothes. If you go for something more modern, it shows you have a definite style, which implies confidence.

I like that hair cut and think it would look perfect on you! I agree with the suit thing as well. What industry do you work in if you don't mind me asking?
