Let's say someone was to get a cat...
and let's say this someone never had a cat.
Where do you recommend getting one? *I know...no pet store...wasn't even an option*
What supplies do you suggest to get?
What do you feed a cat?
What toys do you get?
You know...the basics?
I'm a dog person. I can tell you all about dogs. Cats would be new territory.

Re: Let's say someone was to get a cat...
I have a rescue family that I am trying to find homes for if you are looking to adopt.
But to answer your questions....
you need a litter box/scooper it is best to feed a combination of wet and dry food toys... balls, toy mice, things they can chase they need a scratching post for theri nails.. and to protect your furniture
Good luck!!!

Any animal shelter will have tons of cats. Check with your town.
You can also go to Bide-a-wee, North Shore Animal League, Little Shelter.
Good Luck!

Re: Let's say someone was to get a cat...
What supplies do you suggest to get? Litter Box (most cats like the covered ones, plus the covered ones are nice so litter doesn't come flying out) Litter Litter Scooper I also use litter box liners I also have a littler mat in front of the litter box door to catch litter when my kitties come out Food/Water bowls I also have a mat for under the food as my kitties are messy eaters Food (I do dry and wet) Brush (Esp if they get a long haired kitty) Toys (mine like anything on a string they can chase) Scratching Post
Most local shelters will have cats & kittens for adoption.

Re: Let's say someone was to get a cat...
Petco always has cats in cages for adoption from various shelters. Any town animal shelter, or no kill shelter. (Though I'd go to the kill shelter first to give a kitty a chance!) I think eveyone else pretty much covered the supplies!
Good luck- getting my cat was the best decision I ever made! I can't imagine life without her!
