I love skirt steak, its not chewy at all and has great flavor...it also depends on how you cook it, if its over cooked any meat will be chewy even filet.

Re: lets talk about meat
If a piece of filet is too much for the both of you, can't you cut it in half; and freeze the rest till the next time?
If your DH loves filet, he probably will like a Porterhouse. They have almost the same consistency; very tender & juicy (if cooked right).
And probably 1/2 the price in some places.

I believe T-bone and porterhouse are the same cut - just different ratio/"height" - one is lower the other higher or one has more filet...
I like sirloin as an alternative to filet.

We love filet also but we'll also get skirt steak, porterhouse, and ribeye (my personal favorite).

Re: lets talk about meat
Sirloin can be great when done right, and it's fairly cheap! I love this recipe: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/01/steak-bites/ and I pour some red wine into the pan when I'm done, cook it a bit and pour it over. LOVE it, and it's super easy.
Another thing I like to do is grill the sirloin about 3 minutes on each side (for a thinner cut-so it's still nice and red in the middle), and then cut it into strips over organic baby greens. While it's grilling, I throw olive oil into a small pot with chopped up garlic and fresh rosemary. Cook it on med low until the garlic starts to brown, and pour it over.
Easy and delish :)

Exactly. Porterhouse has a bigger filet and T-bone has a bigger strip side. Both are delicious. The tenderloin has that nice soft mouth feel - and the strip has tons of flavor.

Re: lets talk about meat
When I'm out I only get filet, but at home, I buy London Broil - and I marinate it for a long time - and DH BBQ's it to medium rare.
