Let's talk about photo cards
Last night, I spent a few hours on my Christmas cards. Finding the mailing list, putting ink in the printer for said mailing list, updating the list for address changes, researching names of many of the second and third children, handwriting every card, the whole shebang. Hours.
I went through the cards I've received and realized that 90% of the cards are photo cards or pre-printed cards. I'm so done researching the spelling of the second child's name. I want to send photo cards.
Here's where I need ideas: what photo to use next year? DH and I are not photogenic and we have no pets.

You can borrow my dog if you want.  I would take a picture with your husband if I were you. It could be on a vacation you took during the year or at a wedding when you are all dressed up. It doesn't have to be a specific "Christmas" picture. Life has gotten much easier since we've started doing the photo card with the dog.

I received a card with a close up photo of some beautiful ornaments surrounded by a snowy blanket. One of my co-workers made a holiday card out of a scenic snow picture she took last winter.

Vistaprint or Current catalog has cards you can have pre-printed. They don't need to be photo cards.

My friend sends out beautiful photo cards of her house decorated for Christmas.
This year she had her house covered in snow (from last year I am assuming) and then a little picture of her kissing her husband who was dressed up as Santa, lol. The back had a close up of a beautiful Christmas ornament. I thought it was a great peek into their lives (also included a picture of their dog on the inside)

I've done something like this before or just done personalized pre-printed cards.
My sister did a photo card of the places she went to this year that came out really cute.

A couple of years ago, we sent out a photo card of a couple of our cats.
Two of them were on the couch...their heads were next to each other..one was sleeping and the other had his paws around the sleeping cat.
We are talking random pictures of our cats and might send another cat photo-card next Christmas...

You can use a photo from a recent vacation, or if you decorate your house you can use a photo of your house decorated for the holidays...

You can use a photo from a recent vacation, or if you decorate your house you can use a photo of your house decorated for the holidays...

It took two years, but I did it. I ordered two sets of pre-printed cards. One photo card, one not.
Photo is of DH and me in front of the Wrigley Field marquee for Pearl Jam.

I will use that photo this year, one of her under the Christmas tree with her toys, and some of our vacation photos, especially the crooked palm tree one.
I don't think that I have any good photos of DH and I.

That's cute! I am writing out cards, but I found a box of leftover cards from various years, so I am just using those & stopping when I run out. I will start with the family & friends who always send cards. I'm not tracking down anyone who I know moved but didn't update their address.

YES YES YES!
I just did the same this year....I got a great pic of our outdoor fire and the Christmas tree from last year.
Put them in envelopes and drop them in the mail

I know this is an old topic but I think it's a great one. I was having this conversation with friends the other night.
Hubby and I have pets so it's easy for us.
Why not share a photo of the card you sent out this year?

On the beach,
Skiiing,
Marthas vineyard....
All the places you can pick up and go to without having to worry about childcare
