Lets talk about pre-treated hardwood floors

I'm talking about the ones that are already finished and then installed. Do they look the same after they are installed.....Vs. installing the wood then having them sanded, stained and polyed? Is the quality the same?

we have prefinished hardwoods. you really cant tell the difference.

the poly actually lasts longer than normal hardwoods that are stained in your house because since they are done in the factory, they can use stronger chemicals.

Your floors look very nice. Did you put them in yourselves or hire someone to do it? We were quoted 1400 for a room about the size of yours with the fireplace. We were quoted about 1900 to have the wood installed, sanded, and polyed. The rest of our house has hardwood so i was just concerned about it looking the same.

The only problem with factory finished floors is when they get scratched and gouged you cant resand and finish them.

No some of them you actually can. They come in different thicknesses and the thicker ones can be sanded and redone.....
